From those available at link MRF,Bridgestone,Apollo are tried, tested and are known to withstand rugged conditions. Coming to prices,if you get them from a local retailer, expect them to be a little less(less by 300-500 for each). EDIT: You'll have a far safer driving experience if you opt for tubeless tires. Also, Michelin XM2 are good for fuel economy gains provided you drive on well laid roads(not suitable for very rugged conditions. More about XM2's here. JK Tyres are known to last for a long long time but after seeing this,I wouldn't go for them. Anyday. Last edited by Eminenttismo : 13th June 2012 at 22:10.

![]() Also, these being the first monsoon for my tyres, (and staying in Goa, where it rains non stop), I did put my car through some paces on wet roads, and boy did the tyres do well!! I did some sharp curves in these conditions that I wouldn't have dreamt of with the JK tyres, and am more than a little surprised with the results. Inch perfect grip, and absolutely no loss in traction. ![]() The only issue I am concerned about is the general opinion that Michelin tyres are softer compound than others like Bridgestone, and hence don't last as long as them. This, I will have to wait and see. So far, they have covered close to 7k, and look pretty much new. I make it a point to maintain optimum pressure always. When the time came to change the tyres, at MASS they had offered Bridgestone at 3200/- per tyre. However, I had already decided to go for Michelin, and am happy I stuck to my decision and did not purchase from MASS. From a tyre shop, they costed my Rs. 2850/- per tyre, plus Rs.150/- for each valve. Thus a total of 2850x4 + 150x4 = 12000/-.

| ![]() Just wanted to update you guys about my tire change. I went for full replacement (5 tires). Chose Apollo 3G (tubeless) @ 145 / 80 / R12. So I migrated from tube-type to tubeless. Did not change the rims. So far the ride has been very smooth. Minor road undulations have vanished (the ones which were prominent with my previous Bridgestone ones). I am satisfied with this bunch. :-) Costed quite a bit. Rate INR 2600 X 5. |

I am satisfied with this purchase and will definitely recommend. Also, my regular travel road surface is pretty bad and so far the tyres have hold themselves quite well. :-) I did a rotation last week.

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() Hi All, Sorry for reviving an old thread. Can anyone tell me what is the current price for tires (145/80/R12) for Alto LXi? The car is 2006 model and needs immediate tire replacement. I'm planning to change to tubeless instead of tubed tires. My choice would've been Michelin XM2 but Michelin might not be available in the place where the car currently is. So what other good options should I look for? Bridgestone/MRF/Apollo should be available as far as I know. Need some tires which have decent road grip but also longer life. Regards, |

| ![]() You can go for Bridgestone. They are good as well. The current price for this size should be around 3K per tyre. Do try to trade off your old tyres. You can get 400-500 bucks for 4 tyres! |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() Do check out yoko A539. They keep your car on road as if on rails. Not sure how much it cost now. Check out the review of it at tbhp. |

http://www.yokohama-india.com/product.aspx The size available in A539 is 165/60 R12 which is in my opinion too wide for an alto and would also require a change to thicker 5J rims. any other ideas?

| ![]() Sorry for bumping an old thread. I am contemplating new rubbers for my Alto LXi, the old ones are quite worn out. I plan to stick with the stock size of 145/80 R12. This is my 2nd car with usage restricted within city limits, mainly to commute between home and work place. My car has done a little under 30K kms in over 7 years and I am in no mood to sell this for another 1.5-2 yrs. What would be some value-for-money options to be considered for my upgrade. Please suggest. |
