its in HSR layout, if you are comming from silkboard, take the service road after Malgudi/Dhaba, and if you are comming from Sarjapur rd side, take the 1st left after HSR BDA junction.

Thanks Asdon. Will check it out.

@rjstyles69. Please confirm that you were driving the old model alto ('04) with 13 x 5J wheels and 165/65 R13. There was scraping when you drive under full load? or scraping on fully turning the steering? Also didn't inflating higher pressure help?

Wondering whether 165/65 R13 will scrape the wheelwell?

@wildsdi5530
I think 155 is the max one can go in an Alto without any alterations.
I have 165/65 R13. With 4 passengers on board, the tyres will defintely scrap the wheelwell if not for the spacers.

If not 165/65 r13, try 165/60 r13. That should do well.

Yesterday, I was scouting for alloys in JC-Road for my ALTO-LX.
Had come across these used Plati 13*5.5J alloys form a dealer and he is quoting 6k for 4 alloys . These alloys are well abused but no cracks.
I can get 4 new alloys for 10k but I was not able to find new set from any dealer.
Can anyone let me know for how much can we make a deal?
Will it be fine if I can have a coat of silver finish on these?
Sorry for poor pics. taken from iphone 2G.

^^

You were not able to find a set of 4 new alloys in Bangalore

I am sorry, & I don't intend to doubt your search, but then I suggest that before finalizing this deal, you should get in touch with some TBhpians from your area & seek their help.

Drive safe man, take care.

Something different

I was hunting for alloys that are something different that are available. So landed upon these.
And also got hold of OE Wagon-R alloys, which comes for Prima. He is quoting 5.5k for set of 4 which I felt too high

ramsagar those alloys wouldn't look any good on the alto. Look for something on the multi-spoke types, brands like EVO and Apollo wheels have some killer designs in the 13 and 14 inch category.
Since the Alto is 100 PCD you can easily find stuff from most brands.

If 10k is too much of a burden for now, save up and buy a set of alloys which will suit the Alto than going for an old set.

Thanks RJ.
I don't mind going for Brand new ones. I'm skeptical about the reliability of the Taiwan’s alloys(Read:HR,Plati,League) as the vehicle is mainly used in Rural areas & highways.
I think Aura/OE rims can sustain these beatings:Indian conditions.

As posted earlier, how about the Wagon-R OE Alloys? Is 5.5K for set of 4 reasonably? Else what could be the best price?

Tyre confusion for 2004 Alto

I have a Alto which has completed 7 years and is still running on stock JK tyres. Just clocked 50K on the odo last week and here are some thoughts that have been going through the mind since last couple of months:
1. Visibly the thread is not bad and there are definitely no bald patches.
2. Psychologically I have started worrying about the tyres going kaput any day on me.
3. I travel long distances with family and have clocked as high as 135 recently on my stock tyres. At the same time the fear of any one of the old tyres bursting because of overheat is always there at the back of the mind.
4. I have a heavy right foot and have noticed tyre-spin and low grip when starting on inclines.
5. Most likely would get a new car this year. Not sure whether we would continue to own the Alto as my wife might want to keep it. The possibility of we selling the car soon is another confusion while deciding for the tyre change.
6. Recent incidence: Got off the Mumbai-Pune expressway and the car in front applied urgent brake and came to a standstill. I did the same, was following with a gap of around 15 feet, but still managed to stop a couple of feet behind the car in front. The car behind me also managed to stop, but not the next 2-3 cars. The car behind me had stopped with a good 3-4 feet of gap and I kept wondering if that actually reduced the margin for error for the guy behind him.

Casually checked with a tyre shop nearby and that guy did not had XM1+. Instead he offered me Bridgestone s248 (145/70 R12) and Goodyear, for 2650 and 2350 respectively. Came back, googled for s248 reviews, but did not find much even on tbhp.

Should I settle with the S248 or look for anything else in particular?
Should I change at all ? :-)

Experts, please help

re: Maruti Suzuki Alto : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Would 13 inch wagon R(2008 model) alloys be an okay fit for the alto lxi?

If yes, what would be the correct tyre size?

Thanks.

beejay IIRC the Wagon R is also 100 PCD same like the Alto and I don't think there should be any problems fitting them on the Alto. The upsizes in 13 inchers assuming its for the Alto

155/65-13
165/60-13
145/70-13

Thanks rj, I was thinking of going with 165-60r13. Hope they are not too big and scrape or maybe 155-60 R13, this should be right I guess.

Bridgestone potenza is what I have in mind. Any other tyre recommendations?

Thanks again.

What is the width of the rims ? Also the Potenza is an ok choice , in an alto it really shouldn't matter much.
