You wont have any major benefit upsizing to 17". You will make the ride much harder.

Stick to the OEM size and you will be fine. You should think of a higher quality rubber but in the stock size.

Thanks for the advise! One more thing, does going for 215/225 instead of stock 205 void the warranty? And between the CPC2 and the Michelins which one should I go for? I will take it on the highway quite a lot and drive at decent speeds( 120-180 range). Also, going through bad patches will be inevitable.

I am always in favour of the Stock Tyres even though they may sound a little harsher because the manufacturer will always fit a tyre apropos Suspension, Climatic Conditions and average Road Conditions. Tyre bursts are now more heard of owing to rampant overlooking of Car manufacturers recommendations and buying Tyres with non tropicalized rubber and softer side walls.
Using Oversized Tyres is more of a fad than actual benefit. Bargain is between more fuel consumption, harder suspension for better looks and a little drive comfort.

Go for either the Michelins or the Yokohama's, you won't regret it. Pirelli is also a good option to evaluate. The Michelin's are the pick of the lot, but will be the most expensive too (not by much though). I'm sure no one would recommend Apollo's, JK's or Goodyear's to you. I had heard about some good things about an MRF high-speed tyre, although I can't recall it's name now.

Even so, I'd only look at the Michelin's, Yokohama's or Pirelli's if I were you.

I had upgraded to Bridgestone Tyres and I am very happy on them for last 1 year.

My recommendation. Eyes closed go for Michelin Primacy 3ST.

I have installed the same tyres on my 55K kms done Cruze and have completed 8K kms on these new tyres and loving the experience

They are expensive but, really worth it.

Apollo has launched the premium Vredestein tyres in India. Vredestein Ultrac Cento is available in stock size for around 10K. I've heard very good reviews about these tyres.

Time for a tyre upgrade for my Cruze. Have done 60K on the original set of JK Vectras

Have shortlisted the following :

1. Bridgestone Potenza G III - 205/60/R16 92 H - 33000/- for set of 4

2. Michelin - Primacy 3ST - 205/60/R16 92 V - 34000/- for set of 4

3. Falken - Azenis PT722 - 205/60/ R16 92 H - 27000/- for set of 4

4. Hankook - Optimo - 205/60/R16 92 H - 28000/- for set of 4

Which ones would the experts suggest ?

I concur with Itwasntme. Eyes closed Primacy 3ST are the ones to go for and thats indeed an awesome price of 8.5K/tyre whereas I paid 9.5K/tyre

I mostly drive in Kolkata, the roads are not so good. They get worse during monsoon. Sometimes I go to the villages, the roads are again not good there. I am in the same boat as deb_majumdar in term of my driving conditions. I would very much like to get a tyre that is sturdy, durable, grippy, good FE and the works but have realised no one tyre can give me everything.
So here are my priorities.

Sturdyness - as puncture and cutproof as possible
Safety - decent dry/wet grip, braking etc

I am ready to compromise on FE, noise, cost and the rest.

I have been recommended Bridgestone Potenza G3 and Pirelli P7.
G3 - 205/60/R16 - 7000/-
P7 - 205/60/R16 -7900/-
P7 - 215/60/R16 -8300/-

I am still open for any other suggestions but am planning to buy really soon.
Currently running stock garbage :Frustrati.
