help with bent rim

1)due to heavy breaking and skidding on one day, my palio ended up with a bent tyre rim..
-> now the tyre wobbles moderately while driving.

2)also a few days ago, my santro tyre fell into a hole.. again I had a bent rim..
->the plastic wheel cap does not fit well now..

upon inquiry at some local places they say that the rims can't be repaired and have to be scrapped..

currently both tyres are working as spares.. but that is not the ideal solution to the problem..

NEED MY NET FRIENDS' VALUEBLE ADVICE BEFORE TAKING ANY DECISION....

Rims can be repaired. You can go to a big tyre showroom. They have rim straightening machines. But if the bend is so large as it does not straigten you have to get a new rim.

To add to what Tsk says,
a new steel rim isn't very expensive either.
I believe a new rim for Palio is some 750 bucks.

Well if that lambo says is correct then you might as well get the rims changed for 750 bucks coz even if you repair it, it will cost you a few hundreds....and i would quite trust repair jobs vs new rims... bent rims can get u into big trouble...might as well get new ones if they are coming in cheap. If you do choose to repair then do a proper check on it once its done.

Passion, sorry to sound alarming, but STOP your car immidiately and change your rim before driving. This is playing with your life, stop before its too late. 750 Rs is too little a price to pay for the safety of you and your family members.

Why didnt anyone notice??

Passion, is it a steel rim or an alloy one?? Its very important to answer this.

Steel rims can be repaired if the bend is not too bad.

But, if its an alloy rim...dont think twice get it replaced.

AFAIK, alloys don't bend like rims, they simply crack. This HAS to be a bent rim.

yeahh Rx is right alloys very rarely bend.most of the time they just crack or break.only steel rims bens so it has to be steel and since its steel the replacement cost is one Rs 750 according to lambo so it should be changed asap.

Nitrous,

If you read carefully passion has already said that it is a steel rim (he said wheel caps don't fit) and not a alloy. Also a spare rim costs only Rs150-200. You can get a set of 4 for under Rs1000/- in Mumbai if you have the right source.

In all probabilities your rim can be repaired. What you need to do is get it straightened and the particular wheel rebalanced.

also check the side wall of the tire with the bent rim for any bulges...a nd when you fit the new rim get it balanced ...and if possible get the alignment checked as well
