Just checked with a local Tyre dealer in Gurgaon. Yoko Geolander ATS in the 215/65 R16 size are available for Rs 8300 a tyre. Seems tyre prices have eased a bit as last time these tyre were 9600+! These are good tyres for the Yeti for someone who is ready to upsize to the 65 aspect. I may opt for these tyres next time for my Yeti.

re: Skoda Yeti : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

I just changed the tyres on my Yeti from original Goodyears to Bridgestone GR90 225x60x16. Agreed the tyres are soft, but ride quality is very good. And as and when for the little dirt road/hard gravel, maybe will increase tyre pressure to 35 and use.

Geolanders have had issues with sidewall tearing and bursting, I wouldn't touch them.

The newer lot of Yokohama Geolandars (imports from May / June 2014 onwards) have stronger sidewalls than before and are sturdier in ply construction.

Hi Guys,

Time for me to change the shoes on my yeti. The car has done 46k so far on the stock tyres. I am confused between Yoko Geolander ATS (215\65\16), Falken WildPeak HT01 (215\65\16) and Michelin Latitude Tour HP (215\65\16), kindly suggest. My preferences are to have a good grip, less road noise and AT.

Thanks,
Sid

One more option which is available now is the Bridgestone dueler HT D689 in the 215/60 R16 size which are available online. I couldn't find these tyres in physical stores but they are available online.

All three are equally good tyres. However, if road noise is a priority I would stay away from Yokos as they tend to become noisy after a while (personal experience on 2 other vehicles).

The Falken is as good as the Michelin (better than the Mich on potholed roads and through water) but I had to use a bit of weight to have mine balanced. But then I had put in Michelins as soon as I bought the vehicle, while the Falkens came in after 35k kms - therefore unsure if the imbalance was due to tyres or wheels. The Michelins feel softer than the Falkens, but the ride quality seems to be similar - I would assume therefore that the Falkens would last more.

The Falkens were also a good 2k cheaper than the Michelins, hence I went for them. Has been extremely good so far.

Incidentally there is a very good price going on Snapdeal for the Falken Wildpeak H/T01 in 215/65 R16 Tyres for a set of 4 at around 25,283 Which is really a great price and for people who are looking to change their entire set, could go in for these. Falkens are quite good and at this price make good sense!

re: Skoda Yeti : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Hello Friends,

I have planned a trip from Ahmedabad to Leh in early September and it is time I start thinking of changing shoes for my Yeti. Yes its an eternal question all Yeti owners at least in India face.

Fact that Yeti is an amazing vehicle and the fear that awesomeness in its drive will be compromised confuses me and probably others as well.

I have been following this threads since a few years now and have lately learnt that 215/65 R16 is not a big issue with Yeti, it only adds a little benefit of that extra GC.

I have short listed 3 tyres: -
Falken WILDPEAK HT01 Tubeless
Michelin LATITUDE TOUR HP Tubeless
Pirelli SCORPION STR Tubeless

Considering the form of the vehicle I believe a true AT tyre plus the upsize will be too much.

I now request all the experts and experienced fellow enthusiasts to give their valued opinions so that I can take the best decision for my beloved Yeti.

And yes, please let me know if I have missed a really good option that I could consider against these 3.

Cheers!

My recommendation is for option 1! It is available at quite a decent price too!

Seeing that you are going to Leh, I too would suggest the Falkens. Going by what Steeroid says, who has had the Michelin and the Falkens he says they are close to each other in terms of comfort and silent, and that the Falkens are tougher. I'm going to try them out too when I change my Michelins.

Hi shreephadnis, I am currently using ultra cento 225/55R16 from vredestein on my yeti. I've run around 25000 km and found it to be far more comfortable than stock tyres; the steering response improved too.

None at all, the ride improves a fair amount. There is no scraping or anything with the larger size. Also the few extra mm of GC may help.
