Do give a thought to the Continental Tyres too. I'm running them on mine. No problems yet. Only normal wear and tear. And yes potholes and no road conditions are included.

Re: Update on C Drive - not a happy one

Look on the bright side - you'll have a huge amount of experience-based gyan to provide to guys like us when we are up for the tire change next year!

Btw some time back you & Rohaan were discussing about meeting up. Did that happen? Will be in Bombay this weekend. Do tell if free (I don't think I saw your name in the Mumbai - Pune meet list)

Edit : And (with great delight, I must say!) you owe us all a travelogue on the recent trip of yours!

Right primacy it is ! I will surely check out the BS Turanza given your feedback. Have used the G3 Potenza on my Swift and it was a good experience

Your contis are there for 30,000 ? Are they prone to punctures?

Hey Ninja , we are indeed meeting up this weekend (10th morning ) .
Well I am not good at travelogues besides that you have given a very detailed account on your thailand thread so it would get repetitive but I was thinking about piling onto your thread and share some inputs on car hiring in Thailand and driving around .. what do you say ?

Yes. Recently I encountered a lot of punctures on a single tyre. Lot of people said that the puncture wala was fleecing me. Stopped going to him. Everything is alright now.

Yup, Rohaan just updated me on that. Might catch up if possible!

As for the TL, even mine was put on halt mid-way. Got busy/bored of the activity, plus the discussion veered a bit on shopping. That's a good idea on your part - do put up a few posts on your experience w.r.t. car hiring & options avaliable out there.

re: Volkswagen Vento : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

For Vento TDI Highline.

After reading the entire thread I understand :

1. Best upgrade option is 205/55 R15. Unfortunatley not many options in the market for that size. Yoko S Drives, Pirelli P7 and Continental are available.

Yoko S drive - Sporty. Improved handling. Poor ride quality.
Pirelli - Too costly. Not much user feedbck available nor are these easily available.
Continental - Mixed feedback. Hence people have preferred to give it a miss.

2. Next I see that people have upgraded to 195/60 R15 (Bridgestone) as a second fall back option and seem to be happy with that.

So bottom line is - If you want to upgrade only logical option available is 195/60 R15.

If one wants improved handling, reliability/durability and no compromise on comfort then whats the best bet. Pls include 3 things in your responses :
1. Size
2. Brand
3. Approx price.

Regards,
Aniket

Check here. Some other options including Aceleres available.

This used to be the perfect upgrade for the old Swift, so some good ptions are available: Michelin Primacy (also XM1+?) Yoko A-drives etc.

I will probably upgrade to the 205s sometime next year.

re: Volkswagen Vento : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

No XM1/XM2 in 195/60-15. You have only Primacy LC, Yoko A drive, C drive, MRF ZLO, Aceleres, Bridgestones and I think Goodyear Assurance(or is it Excellence) available.

Still a huge number of options ranging from reasonable to extremely expensive!

IMO BS is most suited for Indian conditions. Have stuck to them for replacement on my City and Santro earlier. Turanza range is good. I stay away from Potenzas, due to road noise issues. Have had Accelers on my Polo and Vectras on Vento. Out of the 2, find Vectras softer and better than Apollo. Also noticed uneven wear on front left tire of Polo at 19k kms. Got them rotated and asked driver to watch out on them. Plan to go for a change in an year. Will go for BS most likely. Dont understand why VW cant give Turanzas when Etios which is low cost can.

195/55/R16 was/is available in Bridgestone, the model being B250. This size and brand comes shod on the higher end of the Verna Fluidic that comes with alloys as standard fitment.

I am running the same size on my Swift with 16" alloy wheels.

Yes. My apologies. I seem to have had a brain freeze when I posted that!

Now, due to the popularity of the Fluidic Verna, some other tyre companies are bringing out tyres in 195/55/16.

Ashoka wheels - Minister road. They have the S drive. Not the pirellis though. Pirelli is a tough find these days more so in that size.

Thanks MindSpeed. Ashoka wheels quoted 5,800/- per tyre after discount and the buyback offer for Vento stock 185/60/R15 is 3,000/- per tyre.
