Hi ,

I just wanted to purchase 3 tyres for my Getz 1.1. Why3 ? because i had the stepnie brand new and was strictly on budget. The older tyres were rock hard was very very noisy. Excited by Tem-bhp i also wanted to upsize to 175/70/r13 Michilen/Yokos, But that would have costing 14.5k for tyres alone and the roads are so bad after recent rains, i did not want to take risk of very soft tyres too.

Well i hardly cross 100kmph and, and the car will be driven by dad mostly. It gives me a mileage of 16kmpl 60% highway + 40% city, i did not want to disturb the sttings and planned to spend on my other car Optra some time later.

So i bought the same Goodyear GT3 tubeless tyres as before of same size 155/80/R13. Then in the shop i saw far away a black kind of tyre in the corner, i asked weather the alloy was for sale and he said yes, Well i was very much unprepared and had done Zero research on alloys. The brand was HR-Alloy, i had heard of neo etc.. but dont remember HR, He said its one of the best brand. There were only 4 alloys, He asked me 10k, i said you please mount the tyres in the older rims itself, i said i cant pay more than 7k, Then the deal was done for 7.5k and said he will charge mee for wheel alignment which he said will make it free before. I said ok as the alloys were looking good and matching with my Getz White color, and also my wheel discs were in pretty bad shape and needed replacement which would have costed atleast 1k . So i decided to go for it. The total with 3 tyres and alloys came 15K +.

I fankly never thought that the looks of the car will change so much after the upgrade/ I think it maches well with the GetZ. After the change the drive is pretty smooth and no noise at all. Its gliding through good roads and in bad roads bumps are not being felt as before.

FEW Questions:

1. Is the Deal good?
2. I am using ABRO Tyre foam Polish for my tyres, is it good for the rubber?
3. Well there are visible scraches in the silver area of the alloys noticed only when looked from very near, The tyre man said you can do buffing and remove it. Is that really possible?
4. Filling air in the new tubeless tyre was a tough job as the width was less. I adont know weather a local tyre walah will be able to do the same in future.

The rim is too wide (I guess 5.5 or 6J) for the skinny 155 tyres.

7.5 for a set of 4 HR alloys is a steal buddy. Is it brand new ?
I am inspired . It looks pretty good on your getz. HR is a reputed brand dont worry about that.

They are used ones, the new ones will cost around 20k for the same brand the tyre fellow said

i would say a cool deal. 7.5K for HR alloys is a pretty good bargain.

but yeah the tyres look thinner compared to the alloys.

never the less it looks cool over all. so congratulations!!

The car surely looks way better, & as already mentioned by some fellow Bhpians, HR is a well known brand.

HR AFAIK comes from the Hindalco Stable.But IIRC the production has been stopped.Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

That said HR were one of the best alloys which were indigenously manufactured

Sorry to correct you but HR does not belongs to Hindalco they are manufactured by Hijoin Industries, Taiwan. Aura is the brand which Hindalco use to make but they had stopped the production now.

if the wheels are too wide for the tires then i would be worried bro. sorry to sound negative but thats not safe. if you are traveling at higher speeds and happen to hit a pothole or something u might take the bead of the tire off the wheel pretty dangerous. but they look good and decent and the price you got it for isnt bad.

Hey All, Due to Team-Bhp pressure and to maintain team-bhp status, I again upgraded to Yokohama 175/70/R13 and filled Nitrogen.
Initial expressions:
Car feels well planted, as if weight of the car has increased.
Noise is far less than the GT3's.
Drive is smooth, but still very early to say, let me drive for 2 more days in the same road to compare with the Gt3's. But it feels damm smooth in smooth roads.
Will post photos in the weekend.

i was just kidding, the reason for the 2nd upgrade was because, there was a wobble coming from the rear tyres only at speeds between 55 to 60 which was pretty annoying, so changed the brand altogeather.

Is this the reason for the wobbling. Did you give the HRs back if no how is the present performance with the new upgrades. Hope you bought 4 tyres this time and the Stepney lies where it should be.
