Good Year launches New Assurance Fuel Max Tyre in India

Good Year launched a new Tyre called the Assurance Fuel Max in India at at event held in Mumbai today. This new tyre is said to provide 4 % more fuel efficiency and 15% longer tread life than other regular tyres.

Some high points of the Assurance Fuel Max Tyre:
  • Has an advanced rolling compound of silica which reduces the friction between the tyre's rubber moleules leading to better fuel efficiency and longer tread life.
  • Hard base under the tread reduces deformation and heat build up in the tyres.
  • The Fuel Max uses a layer of Dupont Kevlar which is 5 times stronger than steel. This adds to the durability and protects the tyre from potholes etc.
  • Designed with a four pitch sequence and high centerline block angles ensures smooth contact with the road
  • Three dimensional waffle blades in the tread enables improved lateral and provides maximized circumferential decoupling delivering better braking and grip on both wet and dry surfaces.
  • Tread has been designed with four uninterrupted circumferential grooves which provide room in the footprint for the tyre to absorb and repel aquaplaning resistance on wet roads giving maximum traction on wet roads.

The Assurance Fuel Max Tyre will be available in the replacement market first. Good Year hasnt tied up with up with any car manufacturers to supply as OE yet but intend to do so eventually. The Fuel Max tyre however comes as OE fitment on the Chevrolet Volt Electric car in the US.

The Fuel Max tyre will not be made in India for now and will be imported from China and Indonesia for our market. Though prices were not told to us, expect it to be on the higher side.

Following are the sizes they are launching for now:

185/60 R15 - VW Polo, Tata Indigo Manza

195/60 R15 - Fiat Linea/Punto, Chevy Optra, Mitsubishi Cedia

215/60 R16 - Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata Transform, Toyota Camry
