Chel, I have the same issue on my newly acquired Palio NV. What did you end up doing?

My cars both front tyre's inside edge wear out. and the mechanics said that its due to Alloy bend is that true ? I wonder how come both the wheel got bent simultaneously ? Both wearing out is almost similar.

I doubt it. It sounds more like an alignment problem.

Who is the mechanic who told you it's due the bent rim?

Alloy wheel repair in Bangalore?

I did a search here, but couldn't find anything on this topic except a wheel straightening shop in Delhi.

Two weeks back on the highway, my motorbike hit a pothole at a fairly good speed and the front alloy wheel took a very small dent on its edge. I have not noticed any drop in air-pressure with my tubeless tires as I rode atleast another 400kms on the same day after the hit.

I know its always best to change the rims, but my bike is only temporarily in India for a long trip and hence I was wondering before the trip if there is any 'reliable' alloy wheel repair shop in Bangalore, where I can have it repaired.

Thanks
Haroon

Haroon,

I have seen a small repair shop on CBI road here in Bangalore. I always seen him working on 2 wheeler wheels.
You could try this place.

Are alloy wheels prone to damage & cant be repaired?

( Mods If there is already a similar thread please merge it)

Can the alloy wheels be covered under insurance?

With a recent incident , there some cut, bend happened on the outer rim (2 cm on outer wheel diameter , 1 cm deep ) of alloy. The insurance survivor is saying that it's a minor thing so it can't be replaced nor claimed.

What I am fearing is that because of the damage if the wheel is having minor crack/ invisible crack , can it compromise the car safety & security?

How to take such a call? Can wheel balancing / any other method can confirm if the wheel is safe?

Can expert's advice?

Safari Alloy Rim Damaged

Hi,

Was driving back to ( Tambaram ) Chennai from Tirpathi this Saturday night on my Safari 2.2 VTT ; which was kind of a bumpy ride as few patches of road were full with pot holes, was raining too.

On reaching I realized that front left tyre was brushing with the body of the vehicle while I was taking a full turn. On a closer look i realized that the Alloy rim had taken a hit and had got twisted at one place with a crack right in the middle, thank god tyre did not deflate.

I checked out at few dealers in Chennai for Rim Repair but all places they are suggesting to replace with a new one.

Would like suggestions for Repair, and also still wondering how this could have happened as it was quite unusual for me as it happened for the first time in my last 13 years of highway drving.
