Re: Alloy Refinishing - Painting / Powder-coating / Chroming

Experts please advise -
I have chrome alloy wheels and being around 5 years old, the chrome has started to come off slightly. I am thinking of getting them painted, matte black or grey. What I wanted to know is whether the paint will hold on? I think the chrome layer needs to be removed completely and then the alloys should be painted. Is that possible?

The chrome that is used these is a paint and it can easily be removed by any good painter.

Thank you Sir! I'll go ahead with it then. It'll definitely give it a nice new look. Costing me 2k for all 4 rims. Price seems okay!

Yes that's a good price. I paid almost double. Where are you getting it done?

Re: Alloy Refinishing - Painting / Powder-coating / Chroming

Hello Sir.
I know a guy who's got a garage in Viman Nagar, Pune. I'll get it done from him. He said he'll take 2 odd days to finish the job. So maybe this coming week if he's available.
Just wanted to know, once the rims are painted, do I need to get my wheels rebalanced?

Re: Alloy Refinishing - Painting / Powder-coating / Chroming

2k for painting a set of 4 alloys is a steal according to me. I have paid close to 3.5k for my old set of alloys.

Yes after painting its advisable to get the wheels rebalanced i had done the same when I had got my alloys painted.

Re: Alloy Refinishing - Painting / Powder-coating / Chroming

Apologies if this has been asked and/or answered before:

I want to get my ANHC's alloys refurbished as they have taken a visual beating.

Where in New Delhi / Gurgaon can I get them worked on? I want to restore them to the original look - what will be the approx cost?

Thanks!

If you don't mind can you post the pictures of the alloys in its current state so that we can help with the next step!

Fusion customs on kanakpura road, I had my CBR alloys and silver panels powder coated/painted black there. you can go and have a look at the place before you decide to get it done, the owner's name is shashank. I have heard some others who wanted to get slightly complicated paint work were not happy with the output but for solid colours, it should be fine

Hello, requesting you to kindly provide a landmark near this place or a map location.

It would help if you could mention the turn-around time at this place, for example how long did it take them to powder-coat your alloys ?

Also, did they handle only the powder-coating task or did they take care of removing the tires from the alloys themselves ?

Thanks in advance

They did everything, including removing the tyres etc, the details and location are on their page on fb. It's a short distance after metro cash and carry, opposite Shankara foundation. And it took 4 days for me, it might take longer if they are busy.

Hey GTO, any luck with getting your alloys refurbed? Specifically, I'm looking for a shop in Bombay that can use my rattle cans to:

(1) paint a new set of stock Skoda Octavia Elegance alloys black; and

(2) paint the brake callipers red.

From some of the other posts it looks like Pervez / Mazda Motors only paint the body and not the wheels? I just need an experienced painter who is used to handling alloys, I have the primer, paint, and topcoat in spray cans, so would appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction.

Nick, looks like I need someone exactly like the person you used to get your friend's wheels painted... unfortunately in Bombay, and not Delhi
Any tips or pointers you would like to share in getting such a job done, especially when one is providing the raw materials (primer, paint, etc.)? Thanks.

Hi

You can do this even for yourself, just purchase the cans online/ store and paint it.

The guy who actually spray painted the alloys, told me that he was doing this for the 1st time

Re: Alloy Refinishing - Painting / Powder-coating / Chroming

Hi guys,
I'm buying a black c class.
The version I'm buying has little to no chrome on it. So pretty much a stealth look.
However, the wheels are a light silver, which does not go too well with the look of the car in my opinion.
Buying new alloys from MB is a couple of lacs. Repainting the new alloys is 4k. A reputed tyre shop in Mumbai is willing to do it. Should I get them repainted, or just go with new alloys? I'm worried of the repainting not going well and messing up my wheels.
