I have heard that refurbishing an old alloy is not a good idea, as in second hand alloys can be cracked, which are filled and then powder coated, I would say its risky, though I know many guys with second hand refurbish alloys without any problem, but personally i would say skoda alloys are easily avialable atleast in Delhi with so many options

Thanks guys,

But this is for a new set of alloys -- not for a set that I intend to refurb. I did see the ones you mentioned at Sprocket, but I believe they are 4-bolt jobs not 5.

Won't fit on an Octavia.

I know someone out there can do this kind of thing. Any leads would be appreciated.

You should only paint alloy rims with paints which can sustain the high temperature which the wheels are subjected to during normal driving. These paints are special and painting a wheel with these paints costs around 1000 bucks.

Hmm, there was another member who painted his aura alloys silver for his purple zen. The pics have disappeared from the post thought... A local painter near the auto gujri quoted 250 bucks for painting 5 rims (my steel OE discs... not alloys)

just the thread I was looking for. I need to get my Lancer SFXi OE enkei alloys rechromed. same finish same colour just redone as there are some marks on it which I am not able to remove.

Anyone know where in bangalore this can be done.

IIRC the standard alloys aren't chrome but had a machined finish. Bloody difficult to find somebody who can refinish the machine finish, so if you find somebody tell me about it also.

This is not true. We have excellent chrome available in India. But the problem here is that nobody does the plating properly. Normally to chrome plate any metal you first need to do a couple of rounds of copper plating. This is because chrome adheres very well to a copper base coat. But nobody does this as it pushes the plating cost very high.

Also hard chrome plating is an overkill for alloys and it is also very expensive. Hard chrome is normally used for reconditioning mechanical shafts. But nothing can beat the look of a hard chrome plated alloy wheel.

@vid - There are a lot of people who do good chrome plating in bangalore.

yeah some sort of finish with concentric circles pattern. and that too shiny chrome lip, another less shiny surface on the front and the design chakra in dull silver.

I think it's similar to the OHC Enkei's.

Damn I hope I find someone to fix one alloy which some sort of chemical stain on it.

Fixing just one wheel might be a problem as the plating colours might not match your other wheels.

yeah but as iraghava said it's not actually a plating. yeah i can all of them done if the finish is good.

But the problem is to get that sort of finish. Vikram have you seen the SFXi alloy closely?

I guess it's not exactly chrome plating then.
