Alloy Refinishing - Painting / Powder-coating / Chroming

Does anyone know where a re powder coating can be done to the alloys in Bengaluru. Two of my alloys have the coating come of is small patches. Who are the best guys on this job, what is the cost and how much time does it take to have this done. Will the coating last for a long time.

What paint should I buy for painting steel wheel rims in black colour - Are they called 'rubberized paint' (Which gives a powder coat like rough finish)? Should I use a primer ? And where do I get this paint - in hardware stores or in a automobile spares shop ..

Its an matt finish paint, and its like just an ordinary paint. But go for automotive paints, atleast Duco. If there is paint, just use sand paper and then wash, dry then paint using spray gun. Sand paper is to roughen the surface and remove loose paints, so use light one. (soft) if it is old rim which have been repainted several times, then you have to use putty for the fillings , so that the finish will be fine.

Go to a automotive paint shop ask for a can of bosiny paint in black ~200 INR. Wash all your rims let them dry and then spray on them. You can do a great job by snading them and applying fillers and putty but usually its not required. Happy DIYing

Hi Everyone,

I luckily found this thread, as I was about to commit the sin of creating a new one!

Anyway, I am planning to change / upgrade the stock tyres on my 2005 Ford Fusion + (that have done 48,000+ km already) and before I do that, I want to repaint the alloys as they have got scratched and have a few nicks here and there. Add to that brake dust and water stains.

Any suggestions in where I can do them in Bangalore.

The OE alloys are Hyper Silver and need to be painted in the same colour (or Ford Moondust Silver, the colour of the car).

I guess powder coating would not do, and spray painting would be needed. The central plastic nut cover would also be needed to be painted (with the Ford logo masked off).

Attached is the image of the rim in current shape.

Since I got no responses and also got varying (and sometime ridiculous) quotes from dealers, realised the scratches were not all that bad

Decide to take the DIY route and am almost done. Lots of effort, but fun as with every DIY. Will eventually post the results and process tomorrow (as a separate thread) when I am done (I hope).

Thanks you are correct Duplicolor. Its all about the prep. I went from Silver to Gold and now Black.

I want to paint OE Punto Alloy wheels to matt black.

Can anyone tell me where it could be done in chd.
Matt black finish is achieved by painting or powder coating?

Please guide.
