Re: Bangalore Club Vintage Car Rally - Ravi Prakash Collection

Hi Ajmat.

Great pictures and a superb collection, the variety is stunning.

There are a few things I wanted to ask.

1. Any more pics of teh 67 Camaro available, preferably side profile.
2. Is the blue copue MRC 5622 am Alfa ? Any pics of the front ?
3. What car is the blue tourer APV 2033
4. What model is the beige Merc Sedan MPF 1332.

Also the red XK is a 140 not 150.

That A40 Farina APU 2033 used to belong to the Gunty family in Hyderabad. Their con was a riend and his dad used to pick him up daily in this car. Last I saw it was in a pretty bad shape. Good to see it has been saved.

So I take it the controvertial thirties Cadillac and the Hupmobile have not been restored yet ?

Wasif

I have no other shots of the camaro -but let me check if there are some background ones

The blue coupe is an Alfa. I have some shots of the grill which I shall add. There are pictures of this car elsewhew

The blue convertible is a Graham Paige - let me go home, zoom in the palcard and check.

The Mercedes is a 290

As for the red Jaguar - I stand corrected!

Re: Bangalore Club Vintage Car Rally - Ravi Prakash Collection

Thanks for the info !

I think that the Graham Paige has a dodgy girille, looks like a fab job.

This was brought from somewhere in coastal AP and sold on by a dealer in Hyderabad. I always wanted to see pictures of it.

That little Fiat roadster is also a very cute and very rare. What year is it.

This new wire wheel fetish is not like Doc .....what heppened here. Study on wires ????

Yes it is the Graham Paige. This car was restored some time back but this is the first time it is featuring in a show as far as I can recollect. Not a very big car.

I was hoping to see the big Ex-Tata Buick, as I had seen this car just after it landed at Doc's place.

Cheers

This year, it was his collection and only his!
Thanks for sharing. Was there not a single car from another entrant? Or was this a private display?

The Healey used to be in Bombay in a slightly more sober colour. The Triumph was a Madras car in red, then black, now ivory. I had last seen it in Delhi. The Sunbeam used to be dark green, ex Titus. Wire wheels are probably made by Wheels India, who supply some nice wheels for classics.

Gogiji, was this your Peugeot? Looks great.
Alfa used to be in a Pune collection, then Delhi.
The A40 Farina must be unique in India - but what ghastly woodwork applied to the rear. A shame.

This 'Bird was restored for the most part in Pune (engine was practically beyond restoration I'm told). Had seen it in Delhi last year. I think this model features the sequential indicator flashes at the rear.

The MPE cream and brown Graham was a Delhi car I think, restored in Bombay. This car was rumoured to have been ex Feroze Gandhi.

I had see the WBP Ford V8 Tourer in Pune, was then sold to Titus I believe.

Again all Titus/Delhi cars, there has been some serious shopping going on in Bangalore!

The wires are again Wheels India products probably - many Delhi cars sport them. This car I believe is ex Nabha.

I remember seeing a red one somewhere at Sec'bad (Ranigunj I think) around 1999, when I was but a wee teenage lad. The regn. IIRC was ABU 6006. Anyone from hyd. who knows this car?
It had "Austin of England" badge on the right front wing side, which I suspect was taken off an older Austin A40 (Devon) because I havent seen them on any other A40 Farina.
The owner, an old gent with a French beard (looked a lot like I K Gujral, who was for one time our PM) was sitting in the parked car, quietly having a smoke when I went up to him and spoke to him. I'd actually asked him about obtaining Herald spares and it was he who'd first directed me towards the old scrap market at Afzulgunj. After he gave me the directions, I immediately took a rickshaw (not auto but a cycle rickshaw!) and went down there...!
The gent also told me that he too had a Herald once, a white one, later sold.

Re: Bangalore Club Vintage Car Rally - Ravi Prakash Collection

That gent with the french beard is Mr. Gunty. They lived around Raniganj and his son was my classmate.

I thought that this red A40 was the same car but now you pointed out the regestration is different so maybe the blue A40 from Marredpally is now been turned into the faux woody we see.

The Gunty car was a regular driver and also a regular at the Secbad club

Thanks wasif! That's interesting to know. This car did look very complete and original except was missing the hubcaps then. Also needed a bit of TLC then- the paintwork was ageing (maybe since, as you said it was used regularly) and also the tail-lamp lenses were both faded. I guess in those pre-www days people werent much aware of importing spares.
I never saw that car around again. Not even in any shows/rallies in recent years.

Karl are you sure that Stude is the Ex-Nabha car? That car you recollect featured in the Maharajas Book and seemed to be bigger/longer. Must go home and compare the pictures

Re: Bangalore Club Vintage Car Rally - Ravi Prakash Collection

It appears that Titus is selling cars that are not aligned to CCCA classification. This has been discussed before.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/vintag...ml#post1983746

Guess with Doc buying Bangalore stands to gain as Titus aligns his collection.

Cheers

It will be good if the Doc can have a museaum and display his cars which will allow everyone of us to have a look at them. Are there any plans by him in this direction?
