Super image, thanks! There used to be (what I think was) a GTO in Pune for years, was sold a few years back out of Pune. I've never seen another one locally.

I wonder if the Chevy convertible is the same Government car seen in these pictures (now in a Pune collection).

Re: Pre / Post War Pontiac

Here is a link that shows how great the 1969 Pontiac Bonneville convertible was and still is, after 142,000 miles on its odo. It still touches 100 mph according to the owner, who has kept it since 1982.Those days it came with power steering, A.C. and power windows- A.C. was not common in convertibles in the US then and perhaps Pontiac was among the first few to offer this goodie.

There are still a fair amount surviving, here are some misc pictures taken from vairous threads on the forum itself.

This car I believe belongs to Syedna, leader of the Bohri community. Note the raised hood.

Hi Karlos,
Could you please throw some light on the brown car next to BMU 4867 in the picture. Curious to know what it is? Is it a Jag?
Cheers

Another real treat for Pontiac lovers- this one a pillar-less 1959 Pontiac Catalina, the cheapest Pontiac way back in 1959!

There was a 1959 Catalina in Mumbai, a station wagon. It had come from Delhi, fitted with Tata diesel engine and front axle. The windshield was replace to a three piece set up, it was offered for sale. Stood for 3 weeks outside our residence, was white. Ultimately they gave it off to a filmwalla, as far as I remember.

Cheers harit

Re: Pics: Vintage & Classic cars in India

Hi,

This "Pontiac Silver Streak" was on display and apparently for sale (for the price of a house , or maybe i looked like someone who needed to be shooed away ) at National motors on Double road in Bangalore, the pictures were taken after obtaining permission from the folk at the place, I am not sure if it belongs to them or not.

Moderators: If inappropriate please delete this post.

regards,

Srinand.

I remember this car having appeared in some rally in Madras or Pondy recently.
