Good Joke. How can any one RE-RESTORE MDR 200 after the job done by DKG? The Head had blown due the high engine compression which is known. The head has to come from the US which has its own challenges.

Such a well documented restoration thread of MDR 200 is available.

The Sundaram Group will never sell this car.

This was the pre-restoration picture as in 2008, Wasif.

Most of the cars are from C S Ananth and Dr Selvaraj. Impeccable cars and great Collectors and Restorers

I especially loved watching Dr Selvaraj's Topolino run on the Road, Treat to eye's.

How many cars were there in total? Nice to see more bikes and a few new entries too. Once again, Jai's Chrysler looks terrific. Jai - you must put the bumper guards back in the right position.

It is indeed a Morris 8 cwt, and I think Dussey has a similar looking Fordson van. Dussey, if possible do share more pictures of this Morris.

I also noticed a light blue Fiat 1100 - any more pictures to share?

Also the Fiat 125 seems to be the same car that had earlier attended in a lovely silver shade with a super set of period cast number plates - sad to see them changed.

I remember the BRU Rover from Calcutta. She used to be black earlier. But what is that white car next to it?

As for the Van, there is a similar Morris Minor Van rotting in bangalore, of which I had posted pictures here

As for the query by Karlos, I have a wild guess, I may be wrong. 1973 Triumph Dolomite Sprint, they look similar .

Thanks all of you for your appreciation. The white car is a Triumph 1300.
The Mustang belongs to Mr Ranjit Pratap.
The green van is a Morris 'Z' Van. Its a commercial version of the Morris 8.
Karl, you are right. I have a Ford Thames E83W Van, which is under restoration in Bangalore. A rather delayed restoration due to various reasons.I hope to get it completed end of this year but before that would be a Morris Minor Traveller woody which hopefully would participate in the next rally.
Around 76 cars and 27 bikes participated in the rally. Sorry folks no more pics to post. The TVS Chevy Phaeton which DKG restored did not participate this time.

There is no need to get offended here.

With all due respects to DKG and his restoration, i am only quoting facts, since i very closely follow Ananth sir's collection and his restorations.

I speak to Ananth sir almost everyday, what makes you think i am joking, a senior person like you should encourage us youngsters to gain knowledge about cars in the country.

Lets not take this thread anymore.

Yes Wasif sir, there are few things that were not good when the car reached Chennai, it had its usual issues. And presently the car is RE-WORKED.(which is good for the Car)

OTOH, wasif sir, did you see Dr. Selvaraj's White Topolino, that car really ran well. How i wish i could get my Topolino as close to that.

Dussey sir's Jeep is something we all look up to. Simply amazing.

Wish there were more pics from the event.

I had a chat with Mr C S Ananth. Let me present the facts as it is.

COSMETICALLY - The car will not undergo any major changes, DKG sir has done a fantastic job here.

MECHANICALLY - The complete engine is waiting to be done up.

And yes, he is RE-RESTORING the said car, mechanically atleast.

How can the same car not be restored but will look different and run differently within a span of 1 year. In my language i call it RESTORATION. What do you find amusing in what i mentioned?

Re: My TVS Heritage Motor Rally July 24,2011

Tht pre restorationpicture has caused quiet a confusion.

So was this MDR 200 present at the rally, if so can anyone put up some pictures.

From Pavan I gather the car had its mechanicals re worked after leaving Hyderabad, wonder what theactual issues were.

Pavan...that topolino indeed looks super, hope yours ends up as close to this as possible.

Re: My TVS Heritage Motor Rally July 24,2011

All that confusion seems cause of pictures posted by me, but I have clearly mentioned in my post that the pictures are of 2007 and the cars look the same i.e. pristine after 3-4 years.

As I had mentioned earlier, MDR 200 did not participate.
Also, on checking up, understand 87 cars and 36 bikes participated.

It would be incorrect to use the word restore as this is a repair of a blown engine head. DKG's thread on the restoration is very detailed where the car was brought back to its original spec. Hence any work for here would only be repair.

MDR 200 did not participate. The answer is here

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/pre-wa...ml#post2261339

Finding a good engine head is going require a lot of patience.

Cheers
