Re: My Garage Display featured in the TOI

Hello Dussey,
This is a great place to be.
We have our own version of Jay Leno's Garage
But, is this at your home or you own a workshop where you have created this wonderful place?

I would spend my whole weekend there if I ever make this kind of a place.

Re: My Garage Display featured in the TOI

agspins, thanks, yes a lot of them are sourced from abroad the last ten years, as the selection of Vintage & Classic Scale Models ( for which I have a preference over modern vehicles), which are available in India are very limited .
Perhaps I will once again start posting individual models in "The Scale Model" thread.

suhaas 307, thanks for your appreciation. Once a collector always a collector !

Thanks to you all for your appreciation. This will definitely encourage me to take my hobby forward. Would love to meet up with you all in Chennai.

More pictures of my Garage Display.

As some of you had wanted some more close up pictures, I am posting
some pictures. I draw your attention to a few unique items in the pictures posted. You can see a clock like a MG speedometer, An Austin 7 ceramic display plate and a 1930s Chevy hood ornament from a family car, Pen drawings in black and white of my cars done by an artist friend from the US who specializes in automotive pen sketches. You can also see a plaque giving details like the body and hood numbers of my early 1942 'Script' Ford GPW Jeep as well as my Bantam T3 Trailer. The WW2 Jeep corner also has adverts of the Willys Jeep as well as the theatres of war (WW2) it successfully took part in. These cards are in hinged frames so that the details given at the back can be read. The whole display is mounted in a camo cloth backround to give an authentic effect. Please also see close up of stamps framed featuring cars

Dussey kudoos for your amazing garage set-up. I especially like the artwork and posters on the surrounding walls, it creates the perfect atmosphere. May i ask where you've sourced all the posters/artwork?

Re: My Garage Display featured in the TOI

Boy 'o' Boy - the JEEP scale models are AWESOME.
But, Dussey, how do you keep the models so clean? Or is it that your garage is dust proof!
It is difficult for me to keep them clean, so have to store them in the original box. I see that your have kept your model in display cabinets but still dust seems to get inside.
I think that will be the price of staying here in a dusty country.

Thanks. The posters and artwork,tin/metal & neon signs are from abroad.

The scale model shelf doors are made with overlapping beadings with no gaps to minimise dust. They have mirrors at the back so that the rear of the cars can be seen and are lighted.

Re: My Garage Display featured in the TOI

I must say, you have an awesome garage and a great passion for the Vintage motors. A very good collection of car models and neon signs. I can't afford to miss a trip to your dreamland whenever i am in the city. I specifically like the Willy's Jeep kept in its original form.

Congratulations for the garage being featured in Times of India. You definitely deserve it and it is surely inpirational for many.

These photos show the extend of your collection, never thought it would be so large. Suggest that you maintain a visitors book.
Another thing I would do is to keep a pan below the vehicles which a leaking oil.
Do you have room for expansion if you add more cars to your collection?
