From the posts I gather that there is misunderstanding amongs us. What is desired by most of us is that any vintage event is held in a fair manner by competent people who have the interest of the movement at heart and do not play politics. The results should be based on merits, decisions are collectively taken, and there should be transparency. Every club and event will have some disatisfied members, but when teamwork is involved this can be vastly reduced. Unfortunately many events are a one man show, judging is also a one man show, and this ends up like a dictatorship, bad for the masses, happy happy for the priviliged.

I have personally seen and experienced unfair judging in bad events, I have heard judges giving their biased views on cars restored by their competitors, I have seen prizes going to the undeserving. In VCCCI events this is so blatent, there are people who demand prizes, we can prepare a list before an event to say who will get a prize, just the category has to be "adjusted". But a prize the "priviliged" must get.

Bulldogji, as you know I sometimes bring my car to events unwashed, I don't send my car the day before for judging because I have once lost to a Ford T on motorcycle wheels. That does not mean that I do not come for an event, I do not try to get prizes and attend for the fun and to be among the enthusiasts. But does that mean that these practices should go on? Not at all. And you have seen what high handedness can do, the disaster of the last Cartier event speaks for itself. It is very apt of people like MBZ 180 to comment on this, he does not intent to run his club/event or to become a judge, but being a participant he is within his rights to comment on the rubbish being practiced all along, amateurish events held by immature power hungry people resulting in no good for the movement. The next Mumbai event is rumoured to be held on 4th and 5th of February, why should it be rumored, is there no sponsor who would beat his drums for the event a month in advance? Are the organisers guarding a closely held secret?

The disatisfaction has nothing to do with winning prizes, just the way clubs and events are run.

The judging in Kolkata must be over by now, lets hear in the next days how things went.

Just came back from the rally,my first time there.Nice turn out,but unfortunately as i reached there,my camera decided not to work today!

Day started was cold and rainy but soon the sun came up as the beauties started coming to the venue.
Was nice meeting Mbz180 who came with his citroen and John Milne,with his evergreen(or should i say blue) Fiat.Other than me Tbhpains Shamik.bose and Sgchaudhuri were also there.Hope they will post the pics soon.

I charged it fully,but something wrong with the sensor,it shut itself of and would not budge anymore.:(

Of the new cars,there was an absolutely immaculate Triumph Spitfire which was a new entrant,and also a Rolls Royce Silver Wreath is expected to come tomorrow.

Spent too much time meeting and talking to some attendees and should have "focused" on taking more photos as I missed a lot of the cars and taking detail

A Morris Minor Low light don't know the owner and a norton Bike done in the old military style.

Hi,

That's a Chevrolet and not a La Salle. Check last year's statesman thread there would be more pics of the car. The car belongs to Mr. Shrivardhan Kanoria.

I think UPK 99 is actually a Chevy Phaeton.

Red and black car WBA 2154 is an Adler Junior.
Grey and black sedan is a 33/34 chevy.

ORC is recently restored by Mr. Kanoria.

I didn't enter anything nor did attend the event.

UPK 99 is a 29 chevy.

Mr. Chowdhry doesn't participate in statesman anymore although he has the largest collection vintage and classic cars perhaps.

New cars were -

1). Buick tourer
2). Citroen traction avant 15/6
3). Morris minor low light
4). Austin 10
5). Triumph spitfire ex bombay

There woulde be more I am sure.
