Nice to see the Bombay 170V with a correct steering wheel. Another car of interest is the Auburn which was "boat-tailed" by a prominent restorer, not having been born in this avatar. Then we see a badge certifying her to have been driven at 100 miles per hour before shipment. Now this is really taking it a bit too far. We all know that the engine is a recent transplant. In fact the entire car to me is a joke. Would love to meet the AUBURN officials who certified this SPEED RECORD.

The morris Minor 1929 as posted is season 1933 saloon , with wheels of early morris minor , is it possible to know who owns it , the regn no is USG 98

I was wondering what this was about and rechecked the Auburn post. The last picture in this post on the bottom extreme right, out of the monitor range is of this plaque, which I have copied and re-attached below.
This car was found without an engine, the body may have been originally a tourer, it was cut down to be hot-rodded, and then greater sense prevailed and she was restored as a boatstail speedster. Since engine and body were anyway not original, some liberty was taken to make a replica of a more desirable model. I believe that the ACD register lists this car with the modifications. About that plaque, I would view this as a period decorative item, it look better here than it would look in, say my Amby. The person planing the hot rodding is an authority on cars, the body was actually cut down and parts of the cut section of the grill were hanging on his office wall. When I had visited him years ago I had told him that what he is planning was sacrilage. Thankfully this is now the result.
We do not have any such surviving Auburns known in India though they did come, and now we have a great looking replica on an original chassis. I won't mind enjoying this car, may be I would do the same if given a chance.
Maybe sometime later this will become an ex-Maharaja car.

I also note that the Armstrong Siddeley seems to have lost its Wilson Pre selector Gearbox and has been replaced by a floor shift

I really like the Armstrong Siddeley. The company had a really interesting history starting with 2 seperate companies in 2 seperate fields: Siddeley Deasy (making large steamer engines/boilers I think) and Armstrong Whitworth (an armaments manufacturer?). Then they merged and produced a few unusual cars.

This should be an AS Hurricane DHC and my dad and I had gone to enquire about a similar car in Calcutta years back. Belonged to a past Chief Minister of West Bengal. The car was intact and I fell in love with the unusually scooped front fenders. Only the interiors were a mess. We tried later a number of times to buy the car (the former owner is known to us) but he refused to sell and said he's going to restore it.

A couple of years back I casually dropped into the workshop of a Calcutta collector and was surprised to see him working on the car. He bought it, and that too for a pittance

Is this car from Calcutta, does any one know?

the Delhi car came from Bhopal, the interior was completely missing and the grille etc went missing later, before restoration. the gearbox is original manual, which was an option. this example didn't have a preselector

Nothing known about the Overland, exept that it was extensively restored by a prominent restorer. Yes, the suburban looked very nice. Maybe other members can shedsome light on these cars.
