It is not the same car. This is an import apparently still on foreign plates.
The car you are refering to has landed in Pune, I believe now restored, and if you look carefully at some collections showcased on this forum recently, you may see it in the background. Hint: Pune.

I never read the article properly, had just put it up.
I doubt Shashi Kapoor owned this 190SL, he had a white W115 MRF???? registered and at his residence on Nepean Sea Road there was a black Pagoda Merc and a red American Vintage Sedan.
