My favorite Fiats

I missed shooting a dark green 1927 tourer that is a regular entrant.

This Balilla boat tail is a recent restoration, and looked fantastic.





This Spyder is a regular entrant, and probably unique in these parts.



1956/57 Elegant was a Pune car - had very seriously thought of buying it when she was offered to me.



A trio of Super Selects including Rony's pride and joy







This bright green 600 has recently been finished.



And my pick of the show - these suprise entries that stole the show.

A pair of delightful bright red Fiat 500s - this pair has been together for decades, and though recently sold to different homes, they were restored together (in record time, and to excellent standards) and made it together for the event. Congratulations Siddharth and Viveck.

The oldest entry was a 1914 Model T, and completed the whole run.



There were atleast 4 A Model Fords, including Bulldogji's hardtop, the Eapens' red and yellow pair, and the Pandit family's old faithful.









A pair of B Models included this newly restored Tourer. Superb work by Marespand once again.







Amal's V8 coupe





Hansa was entered by Jasdanwalla, and we have seen her in older photos in Delhi rallies.





Hillman entered by the Bhagats.

1933 Hudson Tourer is apparently one of its kind surviving in the world, and was recently completed.









Lanchester is ex Gondal, and a treat to see.





Pair of Lancias were poles apart - an elegant and formal DiLambda and Harit's sporty racy.





Daimler of Bulldogji - ex Aga Khan

Viveck Goenka's 1929 Mercedes Nurburg took the Concours for the vintage category - and deservedly so. She also won her class at Cartier. Immaculately presented.

A pair of 300s, Pagodas and a Ponton











The recent classics included an assortment of 114/5s, a 123 and a 126.

Morris were well in attendance, with a couple of 8 Tourers, 8 Saloons, assorted Minors, and even a pair of Minis.























MGs too were well represented, including a TD replica.

Kevinephraim, I dont know if it was deliberate, but your black and white picture is so elegant with its background. B&W snaps have a certain charm that somehow I feel is lost in colour. Specially on such occassions. Observe carefully and one cannot be faulted in thinking this to be a picture taken in the late fifties or early sixties. Thanks for a lovely snap.

WW2 Jeep was the lone Jeep at the event.



1947/8 Oldsmobile.



Trio of Packards - all in deep red.







Unique display was this pedal car. The owners participated in their silver Morris Minor.





Bulldogji's Plymouth convertible - immaculate, like all his cars.





Two Pontiacs at the event.





There were 8 Rolls Royces at the event - probably a record of sorts. The 9th car was seen at judging, but I didn't see it on Sunday (Jetha's PII Continental).

Both regular entrants - Rahul Shah's Saloon and Fali Dhondy's Tourer.





A trio of recent classics - 2 Spurs and a Spirit.





Concours was taken by Yash's 1947 Silver Wraith, ex Mountbatten and Rashtrapati Bhavan. Recently restored in just a few months.

Two Rovers were present; a very early air cooled twin and a 1960 P5 of Amol.





The Standard flag was flown by Nitin Dossa's Avon and a new entrant Herald.





1919 Steyr completed the entire run.



Pair of Triumph Spitfires were in attendance.





No less than 10 Beetles entered this time, including 3 convertibles.

























Wolseley Tourer of Yash Ruia and Saloon of Bhagat.

Leaflets/banners advertising the rally were placed all over the venue at Acres.





All in all a very enjoyable event. Looking forward to next year. It was announced that the next event would be Jan 27th, and entries would close by the 15th of Jan.

That is the Ex Dawood Jung RR Silver Ghost that is currently owned by Mr. Mallya....a superb barrel bodied tourer, any idea who is the actual coatchbuilder for thsi car ?
