Re: Indians and their Cars at Pebble Beach (PB)

So thats what the rajkot rolls has been doing. All the stories that she was on her way here, when she was actually on her way to PB. WOW.So the contest will be between udaipur and rajkot? Both being owned by their highnesses? As to the non participating members who will do the honours, your guess is as good as mine. As you correctly state, one hopes they take this oppurtunity to promote the movement in India, and not indulge in promoting Indians.

The Stutz seems to be a last minute drop out. The Jetha, P II Continental is not even listed, so must have dropped out much earlier.

Do we have pictures of all these cars when they were in India?

Cheers

Well, the stories were true at that point in time. Recently in Mumbai there was a function and the owner was present. He was asked about PB, he said that he was advised not to go for PB because it would attract too much attention on the car and he wanted to have her brought to India. She was to come quetly at the year end and take part in the Cartier show. This advise was given to him by.... well let it be for now. Then came a realisation that so few cars from India, and Indian owned will be present, and those present have not been arranged by the advisor. Therefore this entry was now requested to avoid total embarrassment after the Stutz dropped out. I tell you, Indians and their politics take the cake. It good that she is going, someone can tell you that she is a late entry.
T-bhpian Karl is on the way to Pebble Beach, so we have atleast one non- political ambassador for our movement.

Yes, we do have pictures. If someone posts pictures of the cars as today, we can match them up. I am sure that some photos which are posted on the Rolls thread are already suitable.
Check the list of entries, many cars went from Indore and Kolkata, many left the country illegally. I am surprised at the poor numbers, cars like the Farman, Isotta, Rewa Daimler are missing. Maybe they have been shown in PB recently.

Who are these non-participating members? I only hope that they will be true representatives of the Vintage car movement of India and promote the entire Indian movement suitably and accordingly. Those going there for self promotion should clearly spell that out.

Non participating members ?? I believe PB is open only to participating members - Gate Crashers not allowed. So who is intruding from India? Doc and Manvendra Singh are invitees in their own capacity. So who is this third non existent party taking a joy ride ?

Re: Indians and their Cars at Pebble Beach (PB)

I remember that snap in one of the old editions of Auto India. There was a write up on the Mallya cars with teh Pierce Arrow in color and some of the other cars shown too like the Darracq.

How did they manage to sprite this one out of the country ? Is it coming back

BTW how many Bugatti's does the king of High Times have in India, I was hearing that there might eb three with him now ?

I believe Nitin Dossa will also be there. Since his Bentley was not accepted (it was offered though), one can only presume that he will be representing the Indian movement at PB. Hope he does a worthy representation for all of us in India, including non VCCCI members.

It is likely that next year 2 cars will go, and who knows the Hudson may be invited as the worlds only existing example.

KVCCC will be well represented by our President,Mr. Sulaiman Jamal and Vice President - Mr. P S Premnath. Of course DOC is the Secretary at KVCCC. I am sure that DOC will happily represent all of us in India at PB.

Udaipur RR at Pebble Beach (PB)

The House of Mewar has done an outstanding job of documenting GLK-21 as well as other R-R cars, including many invaluable period photographs. The link is attached.

It's an interesting link in regards to the car and the Mahrajah but that's hard selling of a 20HP in general. No exceptional body style or features. Also as they had called for wiring specialist from overseas and with repute but would they help other 20HP or RR enthusiasts on their learnings ?. Same case in point of other works carried out on the car.

But a great documentation nevertheless and effort from the Mewar team. I stand to apologies & corrected if this is a general info on the cars non pebble beach hard selling related information put up by them on all their cars for visitors etc who visit their website.

Cheers
