The Statesman Vintage & Classic Car Rally Delhi, 2013

Quote:
The prime mover in the mission to preserve quaint old cars, The Statesman Vintage & Classic Car Rally is back in the Capital for its 47{+t}{+h}edition this Sunday. Over 100 entries have been received this year, the oldest being a 1914 John Morris fire engine that is currently housed in the Rail Museum at Chanakyapuri.

Several of the cars are participating in The Statesman rally for the first time confirming that the restoration effort remains in top gear. Among the cars that have entered this year’s rally are products from Ford, Austin, Morris, Dodge, Pontiac, Chrysler, Oldsmobile, Buick, Bentley, Rolls-Royce and Lagonda.

The rally will begin from the Statesman House on Barakhamba Road at 9 a.m. on Sunday and will be flagged off by the Navy Chief, Admiral D. K. Joshi. It will then proceed to Hibiscus in Sector 50 of Gurgaon where a picnic lunch will take place and then move on to Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium where the Navy Chief’s wife, Chitra Joshi, will present the trophies at 4-45 p.m.
I'll be attending the event at the flag off.Any BHP-ians coming?

In the list in the link Lagonda is mentioned. Which car?
One Delhi Chrysler is in Mumbai, it may not make it back in time as it is engaged in an event in Mumbai.

Cheers harit

It's a beautiful British racing green tourer owned by R.N. Seth. I'm positive some photographs of it will get captured tomorrow and make their way to this thread

Re: The Statesman Vintage & Classic Car Rally Delhi, 2013

The rally yesterday was great fun. Unfortunately the weather gods were against us and it was a cold rainy morning with a few cars (mostly convertibles / tourers) dropping out. If I'm not mistaken there were 67 cars in all.

Did any other Bhpians attend the rally? Any photographs? I was too busy concentrating on driving with not the most effective wipers to take any photographs of other cars.

Re: The Statesman Vintage & Classic Car Rally Delhi, 2013

The weather played a spoil sport but still kudos to owners who turned up! .

I have a lot of picture to upload but almost all the images are above the teambhp size limit of 1mb. Will try and bring down the size of the images but that is going to take some time .
Only these 3 images are under 1mb

EDIT: The facebook event page of the rally has lots of pics.

A little offtopic help - You can use A software IMAGE BADGER FOR BATCH RE sizing of large number of pictures easily with only a few clicks. Looking forward to the pics.

Or even cropping would help in some cases. Sometimes images are big mainly because of the excessive 'background' in the pic.

Anyways, looking forward to the other pics.

Re: The Statesman Vintage & Classic Car Rally Delhi, 2013

Even 2 days after the rally there don't seem to be too many pics over here. Did most of the forum members give this one a miss due to the rain? (I did, because I didn't want to venture out in the rain & slush with a cold wind blowing, especially with the news that a number of interesting cars did not turn up to participate because of the weather).

Yes cropping too helps in some cases , but i guess we will have to manually process each image
