In January 1936 you could buy your new Nash car from The Union Co. I assume a connection to the Union Motors that later launched Standard Motors?

Prices ranged from Rs. 4,950 for the La Fayette, to Rs. 7,950 for the Ambassador.

Certainly looks like it- they were based at Mount Rd (29, Mount Rd to be precise!) at Madras too!
But I remember reading Mr. Gopalakrishna started Union co. as a motorcycle dealership initially, ie. before launching Standard Motor Products (my neighbour who is his niece, incidentally, told me he'd begun as a bicycle dealer, her father having helped him by loaning him some amount for his initial investment!

A Ford Model T Touring car would set you back a prince Rs. 2,500 when new, and the same amount would also get you a one tonne truck chassis.

Chanced upon these on Facebook -

A Chevy of the early 20s (?) was advertised as costing Rs. 2900 with artillery wheels and Cord tyres, while if you specified disc wheels and full balloon tyres the price was Rs. 3150.

A very early ad (around 1905 maybe?) for the Wolseley 6HP with 2 seat coachwork priced at Rs. 3750.

In 1955 you could buy your new Studebaker Conestoga station wagon from Sanghi Motors in Bombay for Rs. 21,200 ex factory. Whitewalls would cost you an additional Rs. 85.

In 1950, a Hudson Super Six would cost you Rs. 15,725 plus taxes.

Came across this invoice the other day, dated August 1938, for a Ford V8 Phaeton. Not to sure, but it seems to read Rs. 4,600, and discount of Rs. 1,900 is given in exchange of a 1934 model Ford V8 Tourer. Whitewall tyres an additional Rs. 50.

Here is an invoice for a BSA 250 dated 1947. With accessories the cost was Rs. 1,780. Dealers were Noble Cycle & Motor Co.
