Contessa 1980 model ? News to us. The press fellows just goof it up. Consolations as they have at least covered the event prominently.

In 1980 HM were still dreaming about a newish car. The Vauxhall Victor from where they got the body dies dates from 1972/73.

The 1st anniversary of the HM (the Museum, not Motors) is increasingly covered by the press. Have a look look at pages in Discover India.

Good to know that Mr Tarun Thakral is leaving no stone unturned to popularize the Heritage Transport Museum, by organizing special events to incentivize young folks in checking out old cars!

Thanks SST! Looks like my Christmas day plan is done now - a surprise day trip for my 6 yr old boy who just loves automobiles. How far is it from Vasant Kunj - distance wise?

I owe an update here. Firstly many thanks to SST for posting the last update which got me thinking. And so I went with family - wife and my boy to this amazing place on 25th December.

It was an awesome day out with my 6 yr old boy who loved pretty much everything he saw there. And as and when it would get a bit tedious for him with me spending a little too much time on a beauty, I would take him out to enjoy activities like painting, camel ride, pottery etc. Mr Thakral greeted us right at the entrance when we walked in around 11 am. It was wonderful talking with him.

The arrangements were fantastic to say the least and food was decent too. Spent close to 5 hours and came back very happy only to get stuck in a massive jam before reaching Nelson Mandela marg (due to the bloody malls). Was glad my Christmas day was spent away from them.

I am going to send a note to my boys school to request them to arrange a tour to the museum for kids. Mr Thakral told me that they have special packages for schools and he asked his team to help me out in setting this up. Hopefully the place will get due recognition over time and attract more and more people to come and marvel at these beauties.

Glad to know that. The Heritage Transport Museum is organizing a similar interactive event the coming extended weekend too, and I received this flyer. Check it out.

Re: The Heritage Transport Museum - Gurgaon

The Heritage and Transport Museum has received a Certificate of Excellence, 2015 winner from tripadvisor.
Very commendable just after a year of operation.

They have also been featured in the latest issue of one of the top most architect n lighting design Magazine, MONDO. Here is the article below.

The Museum has acquired a signal from the railways. This type is now obsolete, and it is a perfectly working example.

And then there is a new exhibit on display, a Humber 1934 Landaulette.

Well, they are not being manufactured anymore and are being phased out.

The Museum has reached The Times Kuwait, here is the article. This will be soon a very premier institution.

Congrats to Tarun and his team.

Re: The Heritage Transport Museum - Gurgaon

The Heritage Transport Museum has received an award,
National Tourism Award 2014 - 2015 for being the
Most Innovative & Unique Tourism Project in India"

A very creditable achievement, Tarun Thakral.

Congratulations to all who have contributed to the success of this Museum, it includes a whole range of people starting with the management, contributors both financial and in exhibits and more, employees, government bodies, fellow enthusiasts, and the visitors.

Now we have a government ministry, tourism recognizing the potential of vintage and classic cars. Hope it will help to further our cause.
I would like to see the culture ministry too get on board.

Cheers harit
