I can honestly say this is one of India's best museums. Well planned, well curated and well maintained interesting collection. I have visited it several times during our four year stay in Delhi.

Re: The Heritage Transport Museum - Gurgaon

We visited the Heritage Transport Museum last sunday and I must say it was worth it.

+ World Class Infrastructure and Display Layout
+ Neat and tidy premises, maintained very well.
+ Entry fee of 300/ very reasonably priced.
+ Attention to detail in the exhibits is commendable.eg:Even the washrooms have truck ORVMs for mirrors!
+ Acres of open space in the adjoining area to enjoy a wonderful winter afternoon picnic.

Highly recommended to visit!

Re: The Heritage Transport Museum - Gurgaon

The Heritage Transport Museum Taoru Gurugram has recently acquired two steam engines, an American and a German one. The German engine has been restored by a team of retired engineers from Southern Railways. They have done a great job and the engine runs. It is being showcased on the 13th of May.

Re: The Heritage Transport Museum - Gurgaon

The Indian Postal Department has also issued Postage stamps on transportation featuring a lot of exhibits from the Museum. These stamps were released at the Museum itself. There were six topical sheets, and a combined sheet seen below.

There were also topical sets, Stamps on Palanquins, Stamps on Carriages and Carts, Stamps on Rickshaws, Stamps on Vintage Cars,
Stamps on Public Transportation, all sheets seen below.

Re: The Heritage Transport Museum - Gurgaon

I guess I'm late to this thread. I'm quite surprised that such a museum exists in India! Its must have taken the owner a considerable time, effort and money to start and maintain this museum. The only other similar place I've seen is the camera museum at Chennai. Good Job!

Lovely set of stamps. Initially we were getting it at cost price in the GPO. There are also beautiful post cards and the Prestige booklet. These are very limited in number even for the philatelists. Only 15000 sheetlet sets and 50000 booklets.

Re: The Heritage Transport Museum - Gurgaon

Visited the Heritage Transport Museum today.

Thoroughly impressed!

I have visited the Smithsonian in DC, the Transport Museum in Lucerne, Switzerland and the Mercedes and BMW Museums in Germany.

This museum, although on a much, much smaller scale is comparable in terms of the look and feel: the English/Hindi audio guides (complimentary) work well, the layout of the museum (segregation of each type of transport) is proper and the collection is interesting.

There's a 40min film as well: Journey to Space (we saw this at the Transport Museum).

The Museum has a decent, well-priced cafeteria.

Overall, we spent about three hours here.

Entry fee is Rs. 400 for adults and Rs. 200 for children (includes the audio guides and the film).

Only grouse: they do an extremely lousy job of marketing. India severely lacks a display of it's legacy and heritage and when we have such institutions, they don't market themselves well.

Re: The Heritage Transport Museum - Gurgaon

The Heritage Transport Museumj is celebrating its 4th anniversary this weekend.
They have an additional new attraction, besides the two steam engines of which one is working, in the form of a fully accurately restored Calcutta tram.
One should go and have a look if possible.

Re: The Heritage Transport Museum - Gurgaon

I visited Heritage Transport Museum recently on a weekend with my family.

It can be visited easily with own transportation and is at an hour's drive from Gurgaon.

Ticket prices are the same as mentioned in the previous posts.

There are Steam Engines and Tram on the outside and most of the other artifacts are in the air conditioned building. The visitors could get the audio guides which are included in the ticket.

The complete building is well organised and caters to the transportation scene in India.
We have also seen a 40 minutes video in the auditorium related to the importance of airplanes.

The cars and other artifacts are very well maintained and there are ample space for older persons to sit inside the building.

Kids also enjoy open spaces and also learnt a lot regarding the transportation industry of our country.

Good and different place for the family outing in NCR.
