Bangalore Vintage Group http://www.bangalorevintagegroup.com/ held its Vintage Car & Bike show on 9th March, at the Jayamahal Palace Hotel.

I came to know about this thru a true petrol head at work - Messiah Kumar, himself an avid collector of bikes and scooters, exhibiting a Vijay Super, and had a chance to go and check out an awesome collection of bikes, and cars!

The show was dominated by the Bikes, and Scooters, with more than 50+ turning up.

Java and Yezdi, and the Bullets, the Nortons, Matchless, RD350, Rajdoot 175, Sunbeam, Suvega, Luna, Vijay Supers, Priya, Vespas ( with a very authentic Piaggio complete with sidecar ) graced the show.

Accompanying them were a bunch of Raleigh, Sunbeam, and other Bicycles, one of them a vintage paratrooper's bike that can be folded mid section.

A clutch of Jeeps, with a superbly restored 1944 willys, taking pride of place amongst some more practically modded ones for offroading.

Fiats were there too.. the entire range..A Millicento, A 1100D centerlight, A select, A president.

And a Lone Bug.

The showstoppers were a Humber Hawk - superbly restored and a Austin 7 ( my guess ).

This was the first vintage car show I attended, and i came back mighty impressed with the bonhomie, camaraderie, of the vintage auto enthusiasts who came out to showcase their machines of yore, and shared their passion with the aam aadmi.

Great show !

Bangalore has a good calender of vintage auto shows and events, and it would be good to have a common thread where such events can be listed for everyone to participate.

All in all , a sunday well spent!
