Looks like rally fever is in full swing all over the country. Along with Bangalore and Delhi, we too just concluded the annual VCCCI vintage car and bike rally in Mumbai. Flag off was from Horniman Circle, driving though town and ending at The Acres club in Chembur



There was a good turnout of participants, including some noteworthy new entrants. Attached are pictures of almost all the participating cars and bikes, in alphabetical order

1957 Hindustan Ambassador (Mk 1) was painstakingly detailed


Philedonos' 1965 Amby Mk 2 has come up superb, and gets better everyday with continuous improvement

1946 Buick convertible is ex Jaipur, and in long term ownership. Recently joined us on our joyride to Mahabaleshwar




This 1948 Buick Super has been in the famous Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri family since new.

Impressive turn out of Buicks included this 48. Buicks seemed to be the car of choice for our Mahabaleshwar run, this car joined us as well as the red car above, and a 49

1948 Caddy is a regular entrant


Amal's Caddy continues to stun


This 1947/48 was announced as having been recently imported to India under the new policy


Birla family's stunning 1960 Caddillac was a new entry (possibly used to attend many years ago, not sure).

1959 Chevy Impala decked out with a continental kit and other goodies


1947 Chrysler Windsor made it in the nick of time with the (original honeycomb) radiator giving up 3 days before the event. The new one made it just in time.

1955 Dodge Kingsway Custom was one of two


I had the pleasure of driving this Kingsway for the event




Fiat 600 drew most eyes


Manoj's / Prabal's car looked great, flanked by Rony's gleaming 57 Elegant.


1957 Elegant sported original wheelcaps, which I'm sure everybody had their eye on


A total of 4 Elegants were entered.

There were a total of 5 Model A Fords.

Early Rover sported an air cool twin engine, and a new paint job this time


1947 Singer was a new entry, fresh out of restoration. A badge on the dash caught my eye, and the owner mentioned that there were 12 chassis dispatched to India to be locally bodied by Dewar's to the owners' specifications. I was quite impressed.

Display of bikes was great, with everything from small little early two strokes to Goldstars and a Dommie (I surprisingly saw only one), as well as a bunch of scooters, Jawa/Yezdis and even RDs were out in good numbers. I believe these events should be inclusive and not exclusive, so glad to see so many entries.

This customised Bullet really caught my eye - the detailing taking inspiration from a Brough Superior was terrific, the result turned out great.


Lambretta Series 1 seemed to be restored perfectly.

Thanks Karl for sharing the pictures. Enjoyed viewing it. Buick seems to be the most sought after car at Mumbai. Appears that some big collectors were missing this time.

Surprising choice for the first car to be imported, a Series 62 Caddy considering there is nothing special of this model and there a few specimens in India. Being LHD, I wonder if this car can be registered.
