Some rare find mad, where did you found this?
Front end is lifted from bicycle (could see "H" hero dynamo headlamp holder too) and the brakes looks like the latest type. Wait, where are the rear brakes?
Rear mono-shocks? Seems like some custom made vintage bike experimented recently.

This looks like a bicycle that has been motorised. The engine unit is borrowed from some gearless moped. The engine unit's make needs to be identified but that's going to be a tough job I believe.

Maybe Mr. Muthu Kumar from your city itself (powertwin on eam bhp) could help in this regard?

The magneto cover has an 'EI' logo. Escorts India?

Chassis looks home made but it could be from a mainstream manufacturer as well considering it is a very light moped. it was designed to carry some kind of bodywork from the mounting stubs seen in pic no 4.

Its a funny layout with suspension only at the back. Usually we see priority given to suspension at the front and if the rear is rigid, the seat itself is sprung. This makes me believe this is a one-off project moped.

I believe your guess is quite accurate.

This is 2014, and many of us would be quite shocked to learn this motorised bicycle was made by none other than Royal Enfield!

I think it's an Enfield Arrow (or its predecessor).

How did I arrive at my conclusion? I began by looking for any name, logo, symbol etc. There was only one - the EI mark on the engine. I googled for EI moped, and the images included an Enfield Mofa. Only then did I realise this was manufactured by Royal Enfield/Enfield India (as the company was known back then).

Google images included a suspiciously similar looking moped (probably a later version of this one), and the link led to Team-BHP. Of course! Where else?

As pointed out by Stanher, powertwin (Mr. Muthu Kumar of Coimbatore) would surely have the answer. Here is the definitive hint:

Thank you - Collector, Stanher, powertwin and Team-BHP! Today I learnt something about a very old relative of my old Bullet Electra, which I didn't even know about.

Hi ,
This is a *Motorized Bicycle* from Enfield India , " Enfield ARROW"
This Engine was a 35 cc Two stroke , based on a Agricultural purpose ( Stationary or Constant Speed )Villiers Engine..later was developed with a " kind of Centrifugal Clutch" to go with a Running machine !!
The Cycle parts was Supplied by " Tube Investments of India " ....or ** TI Cycles / Madras as per Enfield India's request
Also *The Power train units *..containing Engine , Exhaust, Hand twist throttle , Bracket & fasteners & Fuel tank ( On request ) was sold via Enfield India retail outlets !!
As it was at mid '80 s , where the EI company itself was in a dilemma ..." TO BE ...or NOT BE " ....so there was no promotional activities , very few consumers came to know about these " Motorized Bicycles & the Separate Kit to fit in regular Safety Bicycles "
I still have NOS complete Kit ( Which is meant for Common regular Bicycles ) ..will click some pics & post it here :-)
Even before this thread , have posted a Enfield ARROW pic in a Tbhp thread ...couldn't remeber now ( will dig out & re-post here once again )

Cheers!!
