The Velox and the Wyvern were indeed nearly identical in appearance, except for some minor differences. We have a 6-cylinder Velox and its tail lights are different from those of the Wyvern in the pic (D-shaped and positioned closer together). In fact, the name "Velox" does not appear anywhere on the car. Instead, the chrome stripes on either side of the bonnet feature the words "Vauxhall Six".

Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

Here are pics of a Mercedes-Benz 380 SEL, a 1970s Buick Skylark Sedan and a Toyota Crown, all rusting on an empty disputed plot of land, that too in Downtown Mumbai. But inspite of the bad condition of the exterior, the interiors seem to be in quite a good condition.

Buick seems to be a very complete car. Is it up for grabs.

Nice find!!!
They pretty much seem in good condition as far as the exteriors are concerned too; not too many parts missing. I'm sure the engine must be in OK state too, but by any chance, are they flood affected?? Wonder why they're lying in such a state of neglect.

I used to see a condemned (put away long long ago by some government department) classic lying not far from my house here in Anantapur 10 years ago. I'll go check today, to see if it's still lying there.

Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

All the three cars are exotic, they seem to be very much in good state to bring them back to originality esecially the Merc, its tempting. Don't know why there are left like that and when it is up for sale why are they still standing under the sky. Is it possible someone can PM me the Merc price I might be intrested.

Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

I remember seeing the pics of these cars forwarded by someone, who in turn got it from some middleman.

I was not aware the cars were on a disputed land. Not sure who the owners are. But if the cars are on a disputed part of land in the heart of Mumbai, I don't think these cars can be made easily available. Better to stay away.

Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

Of these three cars, the Toyota will be the easiest to fix, then perhaps the Buick (mpfi?) and toughest the Mercedes. One could expect the Mercedes to incur a bill of more then 5L just on electrical and mechanical work. These cars should never be idle for long periods. Simple W 126 like 280S start acting up, this beast can bring one to his knees. And never go to a roadside mechanic with these Mercedes. The Buick should be relatively easier, but parts will have to come from US or substituted with other parts.

Cheers harit

Spot on Amol !!!
These cars are rusting on the disputed land, on the back side of Sane Guruji High School; near to Antonio da Silva Technical High School.
In the same gully, the building on the last corner has Amby Mk II rotting to earth, which is now covered by the owner. Now the owner of this Amby uses Mercedes Benz E-Class.

Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

Sometime back I had posted these pics of a Delight/President rotting in Bombay - this is what she has been reduced to in a couple of years!

The car's original registration says that it is a 1960's Delite. But perhaps it was fitted with a new bodyshell maybe in the late 1980's or early 1990's as there are no quarter glasses on the front doors. Also the bodyshell may have been of the Padmini Economy model as the metal bumpers are body coloured. But the front grille is from the BE deluxe. The economy model had a black plastic grille. And the front and rear windscreens have the chrome strips on the glass beading again a Deluxe BE feature. The Economy and Standard models had no chrome on the rubber beadings. So the body coloured bumpers are a mismatch.

What a waste The latest pics are horrible. Seems like someone has taken the rear glass out which resulted in the roof to collapse.

@anjan_c2007 I think thats the cromodora grill, very hard to find these days and not the Plastic one. Also from the pics there is no sign of the car being a delight model(apart from the grill), guess the owner got it to look up to date.
