Thats a kit car, built on a Fiat 1100D platform.

Loads and loads of metal paste on the car, its been all around Bangalore since 1995, He's quoting 2 lacs on it

I quoted Rs 60K for over 3 years to him, but that guy did not let it go. Finally he offered at 1 lac, i went with advance and he does not have any glasses/ no documents / no lights and no fittings. just one well designed contraption.

The headlamps on the red rotting hood remind one of a Ford GT. The shape seems very catchy. Any more pics of the same from it's haydays?

Thats a defender in the first picture.

I had seen a similar condition Hudson Commodore in Delhi outside Pandit & Co and the car belonged to a well known collector. I am guessing this could be the car now in Delhi.

I remember reading somewhere that the body of the Landy's specially ordered for various mission and volunteering programmes for tropical areas were made of Aluminium. Such vehicles usually were riveted together than being welded together.

May be this one is one of those (considering the Missonery background) and that may why the rust has left the body alone.

As far as i know all defenders are all aluminium body, I saw a defender, a Kaiser and CJ3B all rotting away at a workshop in parripally(kollam dist kerala) on the side of the NH, I enquired with the owner if he is wishing to sell them and the answer was no, it is a sad sight. I have also seen a defender rotting away near Kozhikode on the NH.

All Land Rover series models, as well as defenders, are aluminium bodied. When the LR was conceived, steel was an expensive and rationed commodity. Aluminium, on the other hand, was available plentifully as post war aircraft material surplus. Hence the genius of making a body out of aluminium, which would prove cost effective as well as not rust. This story is almost part of folklore now.

But the reason I made that comment was different. True, aluminium does not rust, but it does corrode!
