Are all these cars from Pune??. Why dont the owners sell them off to a kabari wala. A few months ago I saw a Kabari guy cutting a Premier Padmini along the center with a hand saw.

yea, most are in pune unless mentioned otherwise...3-4 are scrapped already...

theres an artist in germany whos placed loads of classic exotic in hos backyard, open to the elements, and ensured that they cant be restored...its an art display for him! i think some people in pune have similar intentions!

That Fiat 850 defenitely looks salveagable.

However, it might be a total rustbucket under that dusty outside.

How about as a first car for me....... after salvaging that engine and tuning it to Abarth-spec ( OT2000?).ah, we can all dream.....

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE RESTORE THAT DKW???

yeah, the 850 is no doubt salvagable, shes 100% complete...i wish Fiat India would do something about it...lying in their Kurla plant...it would make a great promo vehicle...

as for the DKW, i saw her a few years back and forgot bout it...trying to sniff her out again if shes for sale...saw a similar one at Autostadt in germany...

Karl, remember I mentioned abt a Standard Truck we had in Goa for carrying coconuts from the farm! This is the model we had. It was green in colour and had a wooden carriage. The carriage wood is still in use and the use is to make windows for our ancestral house there!

Hey all,
'thot I'd contribute to this thread by posting sum pics. of rusting jalopies I've come across as well.....

This is the 1st car I'd photo'd w/ my new camera last year....an early '50s Standard Vanguard phase 1, not too far away from our home here at Vizag.....these r quite rare now, this is the first (& so far only) Vanugard I've actually seen in India!
Car's been sitting at this spot for ages! U can see even the regn.no.'s been washed away by the rains! Really a pity 'cos it seems to've been a very original car once!
The owner had actually handed over the car to this friend of his b4 migrating abroad a few yrs ago, asking him to sell it....but the latter turned out to be greedy & kept asking a high price to neone who came forward to buy it (last time he was quoting 50k!)...& inspite of the fact tat the car's been dumped outside, open to the elements & occasional vandalisation (this is an old pic., the petrol tank flap's now gone & the rear bumper's falling off.....plus its in an area close to the local beach so the salty air has caused the body to rust faster than it normally shud.....u cud make out in the later pics. of this car!).....

Karl, I must appreciate your efforts. Very well done. And yes, seeing these cars is similar to seeing human in this bad condition. Really sad!
