Very bad state. But, restorable.
2 days of following up with the owner and he refused to sell it.
@Karl and the other veterans: Pls start a thread on how to talk a scrap vintage car owner into selling it off.
Also, is this beetle worth buying?
the picture shows a shell, so you have to give me a better description and details. Like most beetles, i can see many changes...the rear fenders, rear engine lid have been updated to later spec...the windows and wheels suggest its a pre 67...

As for convincing people to sell, I cant help you...I behave equally unreasonable when people make me offers for my cars...hehe!

Nothings there inside the beetle.
I looked through the engine vent and saw an engine.
I found this car in Pondicherry. It was in a place where there were quite a few vintages.

well, as the car is obviously getting bodywork done, the usual protocol is to strip it bare and store the parts...

What is the procedure to get a car from different state

What are the costs involved. Is it easy to register in local RTO,Bangalore, after getting the car from say other state or union like Pondy?.
Being novice, no idea about all these things. Let me know.

Thanks.

If documents are clear its not too big a problem. RTO charges are quite nominal, its the agents who will charge you the lumpsum. Still, I think the last time I did something like that my total costs of NOC and other relevant documents was around 1300 rupees...

its such a pity that these beauties had a uncared demise a ravages of time took its toll on them and the owners left them to rust as I wud believe maintaining these cars in India is a tough job as most of the manufacturers dont exist anymore and Indian psyche wud advice one to go ahead and buy a new v.f.m. product instead of wasting money on restoring or maintaining something which has "no resale" value...

I agree with you karl. Even the steering wheel is of the pre 67 beetle. The second thing to notice are the rear lamp cluster holes which are obviously post 72 whereas in the original the holes for these lamps would be much smaller.

moralfibre , at the moment nothing man. I sure will try to meet up with the owner who is in his late 60's maybe and get info.Me thinks he lives somewhere close to my area.
Car was clean and 1st thing I would look in rare classics is rust .
No signs of rust and the car looked spanking clean.Red in color.
Sorry couldnt get any pics, was busy admiring the beauty.

amazing thread guys ! stanher...i found some of your fiat pics on webshots...hope you dont mind me posting a couple of them here for reference.

my cousin whos dad is a doc (ex-principal KIMS) has a similar model 1962 1100 in pristine condition. it has the original 'army-greenish' paint. it has all original parts including the 'fish indicators' in the sides. he was a car maintenance freak and its been extremely well kept. my cousin wants to dispose the car now as they have no space for the new cars. are there any takers for this car...and how much could i expect for it ?!

Hmm....these cars arent exactly "Rust in pieces" material now are they?

MHP 255 has since been sold...its in bombay, and pretty messed up now.

I would have a friend interested in the car you speak of, can you PM details and pics?
