Woodies have always enchanted me, for the first one that I ever saw one was in Galveston eon years ago and I had thought to myself, may be these yankees are mad and have build car out of wood. But later realised that they were indeed a breed of cars.
The only reason that I see for their poor survival rate in India could be that they look like HEARSE cars.
I am getting a devilish idea of getting a real rotten 1956-57 Fiat and build a woodie out of it.

A Morris (or Hindustan?) traveller in a 1973 movie- DHAMKEE. Hope it survives.
Unfortunately numberplate not visible!

nice thread,We have one woody here in trivandrum which is actually owned by Indian Railways.Its a woody amby estate type car.Will try to get the pic of the same,

sorry to correct you Ram, the car owned by Railways is KEV-134 is not a woody but an ambassador traveller (estate version) it is fully metal bodied one. it is basically a mark4 .saw it even yesterday

There used to be a late '70s woody parked at Napean sea Road, Mumbai which looked something like the pic below. Does anyone have an idea where that car is.

This appears to be a 1952 Plymouth Woody from Chandigarh

I would rather say it is BMY registered, not BMT. BMT would be a commercial series, with a white plate.
