The Cochin Vintage Club held its first Heritage Motor Rally in Cochin, on the 22nd and 23rd of August 2015.

What makes this even even more special is the fact that this is the First vintage rally conducted to this scale in the state.

There were over 50 cars present, and over 25 two wheelers.

Prizes were given to the Most Authentic Vintage Car and Bike, and there was a vote by the public too, for their choice of car and bike

Thanks a lot for the pics JayD. Was following the rally in Facebook. All the cars looks drool worthy. I especially loved the red and black Hindustan. All your classics looks in top shape. Never knew Cochin was home to so many classics. A rally which is not to be missed in the coming years.
BTW, Your Millicento didn't participate in this rally? Didn't see any pics.

Thank you. The response for the rally was overwhelming and its going to be an annual event from now on.

My Millecento had participated, along wit the Dodge, OHV, landy, and SS80. Pics of the same have been uploaded.

Thanks for sharing those adorable pictures.

It's a pleasant surprise to see a RD attending this vintage motor show. Can we digest the legendary RD 350 as an antique piece. I don't think, as it still carries the metal to compete with the new era hooligans even now with some serious mods.

Vintage doesn't really mean slow. With that being said,the RD is more of a classic than a vintage at the moment. Maybe in a few decades the Yam will be classified as a vintage smoker.

It is actually up to a Club to define what type of vehicles should be allowed to participate in an event. If the vintage movement in that particular place is limited, then they may broaden the classification or be lenient on modifications, to have higher participation of vehicles in the event.

For example in Karnataka Vintage and Classic Car Club, we do not allow later models cars/bikes and modified cars are a strict NO. KVCCC is open up to 1970, but should be a Classic(not mass produced, engine, bodywork etc). For example a 1969 Amby will not qualify for participation.

If you look at the Historical Vehicle Movement, classification of vehicles is as below

1. Veteran – Veteran is an automobile constructed up to December 1905
2. Edwardian – Edwardian is an automobile built from January 1905 to December 1919
3. Vintage – Vintage is an automobile built from January 1920 to December 1939
4. Classic - Classic is a "fine" or "distinctive" automobile, foreign built, produced from January 1940 to December 1959. Other factors, including engine displacement, coachwork and luxury accessories, help determine whether a car is considered a Classic

This list is expanded by India Clubs to include Modern Classics, Indian Classics, Specials etc.

Guess CVC has a more open definition as who can participate.

Thank you for sharing these photos. The red & black Morris is a head turner. Seeing a Fantabulous for the first time since 1974. One of my uncles used to own one till that year. Often sat pillion on it.

Hi Ganesc,

That appears to be one among the tiniest bikes, mostly known as "Pocket Bike". The ride is so small that you can even carry it with one had, light weight. But since due to the same reason, the rider will be sitting so close to the ground once on the bike, while riding, he will feel that even actual 40 kmph is like 90+ kmph. The rider has to tuck in his legs on to the side pads provided, which gives that tricky look you felt.
