Auction of Vijay Mallya's Vintage Cars

Some one passed this across recently.

A few beautiful Vintage cars for sale from the Mallya collection. It can be true or false also.

The same auction house has sales ranging from jeeps to these cars, all on sale via an e-auction.

Any details needed contact their numbers listed and not me!

Cheers

This just in on the Mallya cars auction.

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/c...w/53906606.cms

Quote:
This auction linked to Vijay Mallya was quite unlike the previous ones. Amid the struggle by a consortium of banks to sell off the assets of his now-defunct Kingfisher Airlines, bidders last week jostled to grab the beleaguered tycoon's collection of vintage cars.

Global liquor giant Diageo controlled United Spirits Ltd put 30 of Mallya's vintage cars on the block, six months after he stepped down as its chairman Among the beauties was a 1903 Humber, said to be the oldest running car in the country.

The online auction, on August 25, turned out to be an action-packed marathon session, with organiser Quippo Valuers and Auctioneers letting it continue till 4 am the next day. "It just kept getting extended by blocks of 10 minutes each due to continued bidding," said a source.

The Humber and Lanchester have gone for great prices

According to sources, the 1903 Humber went for Rs 1 crore, while Lancaster fetched nearly Rs 2 crore. Of the 30 cars up for auction, eight were vintage and all of them fetched good prices.

Re: Auction of Vijay Mallya's Vintage Cars

Here is a screenshot of the live auction just before I shut down. It was gob smacking and unbelievable what some of the cars went for.

The Boxter was still going strong at 40 plus lacs when I logged off. A W211 E240 pre-facelift Mercedes had crossed 8 lacs.

The most reasonable buy was probably the Maruti omni at 25,000/- rupees.

I can understand the bidding on the vintage cars. Totally justified and probably going back to the original owner through proxy bids

Re: Auction of Vijay Mallya's Vintage Cars

Just spoke to someone at the auction house, they are not going to disclose the prices and told me that all the cars have been given the final approval by the seller as per the final bid prices, remember this was the auction where the seller had the last say and could even reject the final bid prices.

Re: Auction of Vijay Mallya's Vintage Cars

Is it possible that only the collectible cars are put on auction so that VM can get his collection back through his own bidders? Except for the RR Ghost, I do not see any of his recent cars under the hammer. Some recent cars that I can think of :

The 2005 E240 W211, finally hammered at Rs. 16.6 Lacs before tax and commission = Rs. 18 Lacs for 2005 petrol W211 would be a world record of sorts. MB100/140 vans went for 12 Lacs odd before tax. Similar ones advertised at Rs. 6-7 lacs.

This auction is sounding like big joke. Seems someone groups are bidding up to not take delivery and relinquish the deposits and probably leave car unsold. Many other modern cars like SLK & Boxter sold for prices of much newer similar examples like 2010/2011 cars

Attached are final closing prices of the cars which went for prices massively above market, which sort of indicates that the whole auction smells nasty

As someone on Facebook pointed out, the "Phantom" shown in the first picture of the thread is actually a Ghost...

Under the photo it says "ROLLS ROYCE GHOST", looks like they messed it up when they tabulated it.

I wonder if there was a phantom that was supposed to be auctioned as well.

Re: Auction of Vijay Mallya's Vintage Cars

In 2011, I had gone to meet my friend at Madhu Industrial Estate, Pandurang Budhkar Marg, Mumbai. There I had seen one Ferrari which allegedly belonged to Vijay Mallya. Can someone confirm if the car in these photos belongs to him?

Re: Auction of Vijay Mallya's Vintage Cars

I have nothing against capitalism and display of wealth - if you earn it, by all means splurge. But the fact that this guy was sitting on such assets while his employees were not paid a cent and one even committed suicide is quite revolting.
