Hello Shreeram,

Do you still have this car? Isn't this a Fiat 1100R Station Wagon - the original Italian model? Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

Yest it is the 1100R. Unfortunately it was sold when we upgraded to our Datsun 260C 330. it was one of the first imports of 10 cars is what I have heard not sure.

Would love to see more pics if you have any. My dad owned 2 Premier Safari's at one point of time - both were sold when we were too small to remember anything about it. Last year I saw a junked Fiat 1100R Wagon in Goa - not sure if it was junked or there for restoration - it was a great GJ registered car. Still had its original white on black plates. I'll try digging out pics.

That's the only pic I have. Infact I am searching for the car. It was sold locally. Let's hope to find it. Reg was MTJ
Was the goa car blue in color ?? Do search for the pics

Hello Shreeram, yes I too wish we had retained one atleast. One was blue and one was red. I'll try and get more info on it from my dad.

Coming to the Goa 1100R, yes it's a light blue car. I guess it is a LHD because the boot doors are left hinged. All of the Safari's on this thread have a right hinged door. But my guess could be wrong since yours was a RHD.

Another advertisement from 1973

The station wagons are advertised in two versions - the Utility as a panel van, with no windows, and a passenger Safari that we are more familiar with.

Also note the mention of Premier Roadmaster diesel trucks, Pioneer petrol trucks, Colt diesel industrial engines, Fury and Prince petrol industrial engines, Mariner marine engines and Airtemp air conditioners. I wonder if any of these survive.

I remember that these used to carry the legend 'choti taxi' in devnagari script (meaning small taxi). I believe this was to assure would be passengers that the fare shall be same as the Fiat saloons. The large American taxies had been withdrawn only a few years previously. There was a dual fare system while they were around and they had higher fares.

Here is an owner's manual for the drive away chassis dated 1974, illustrations still show the President style trims. Presumably the introductory model.

The Starline Motors team for the 1972 All India Highway Motor Car Rally. Interesting to note the President/Padmini style bumpers already making an appearance in 72 (the President was introduced in 73). Perhaps a run out model or just a special upgrade.

I believe President was introduced in 1972 . I recently bought one which is a 1972 model.
