If you are so inclined, you can have a 1/43 scale model from BRUMM on your bookshelf.

Notice the registration on the model says VA-43890;and the article mentions VA-43850

Re: Vintage Overlanding! Driving Cross-Country back in the day

A slight deviation from the topic, but I must highlight a terrific journey of our fellow BHPian Girish, rising his Lambretta from Kanyakumari to Kardungla!

And I must say, an inspiration to me too!
Though may I add here that Girish's scooter is the Lamby 150 on the left; the Lambretta belongs to his friend who accompanied him.

Motorcycles Hanni Koehler, a German racing motorcyclist, on her 500 ccm Ardie Silberpfeil (ęSilver ArrowĘ) motorbike is pushed back on a trail in India by an elephant. From February to October 1931 Hanni Koehler together with press photographer Max Rischka as her companion went on a 9 month overland trip from Nuremberg, Germany to Ceylon (Sri Lanka) and back to Berlin, finishing their journey on the AVUS race track, where they were welcomed by a huge crowd of Berliners. With Hanni as the driver and Max in the sidecar they travelled some 20.000 km on two Ardie motorbikes with sidecar and aluminium frame and an 18hp Jap engine. Hanni Koehler was the first woman ever who travelled overland from Europe to Asia. In addition it was the first motorcycle trip on that specific route which had been achieved with a sidecar. Hanni Koehler (*-?) was born in Berlin as the daughter of Otto Koehler and Caroline Riedl. She was running a motorbike shop in Berlin with 21 employees in the 1930ies - 1931 - Published by: 'Tempo' Vintage property of ullstein bild

Came across this neat story on facebook

In 1979 this scooter was ridden to Nepal and back - now in display at a temple in Panvel.
