1958: "My late father Sayed Nasir Ali Shah in gray suit (right) with his friend Dr. Aslam while going from Delhi to Agra in his 1957 Chevrolet.

They went together on this trip from Pakistan. Dr. Aslam in black suit was dental surgeon, his clinic was in Khyber Bazaar Peshawar city near Qissa Khwani Bazaar. It was my father’s car, who was also owner of Frontier Motors Peshawar. Back then as far as I know licence No FPP stood for 'Frontier Province Peshawar'.

I heard from my elder brother Syed Aman Ali Shah who died at age of ninety that this car was purchased brand new directly from car showroom in 1957 and cost Rs. 17000/= in those days"

Recently came across the story of Mr. Thomas Joseph who traveled to Kerala from Kuwait via road in a 1990 Mitsubishi Galant during Iraqi invasion of 1990’s. I was wondering if we every could travel through the path he took covering Iraq, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan in the current sociopolitical scenarios or can we ever have such dare to do these kinds of travel.

This journey from England to India was made by a team led by Major F. A. C. Forbes-Leith of the British Army. The journey was undertaken in a 14hp Wolseley Colonial model by a three-member team comprising Leith - the team leader, Allan Wroe - a chronicler and writer, and Montagu Redknap - a movie cameraman

Walim Mohd Adam is known to be the first Indian to have driven from Lusaka, Zambia to Paguthan, Bharuch (Gujarat) in India and return by car, Circa 1935.

Eleven adventure riders started from Calcutta on six Rajdoot 175 and Mr. Jaswant Singh (Jassy) joined them at Faridabad with his Rajdoot Deluxe 175 covered 20,000 Kms from Calcutta to London in just 21 days back in 1979.

They rode from Calcutta to Delhi and to Bombay and then sailed to Kuwait, from Kuwait to Iran to Syria on to Turkey- one of the roughest known terrains in the world, a herculean test for both man and his machine. Then from Turkey right through Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Austria, Germany, Belgium and finally, to London.

Riders use to cover 600 kms., per day at an average speed of 60 to 70 Kmph.

Interestingly in every country they passed, they met the Rajdoot's (Ambassador's)
