British carmaker MG Motor (Morris Garages) today announced the launch of its initiative to reconnect with MG classic car owners in India. The brand is looking forward to welcoming passionate MG owners who have not only owned but also taken care of the classic cars from the British marquee.

The carmaker plans to welcome these owners to the India family and host them for various experiential events being planned as part of the brand’s journey in India. A significant number of MG owners have already reached out to the company from across India.

Will it be like this - a Chinese car launched with the MG brand

Or will it be a modern day version of this the traditional view of MG of the 1950s to 1970s. In my eyes this stood for the handsome uncluttered look of an MG.

British carmaker MG Motor India (Morris Garages) today organised an MG Owners Meet & Drive as part of the 21 Gun Salute Rally.

The event was flagged off from the Golf Course Ambience Greens in Gurgaon. MG cars part of the drive included roadsters and convertibles like the 1935 MG P Sports, 1946 MG TC and 1965 MG Midget among others. MG B was the most popular of the cars, with three models including the popular MG-B GT fastback.

Wow!

When the initial annoucement came regarding MG India, I had dismissed them as a joke for reversing GMs fortunes.

But looks like they are making some very strong moves. Reaching out to enthusiasts and reviving the old brand - and such a large turnout for the event - Nice.

Hope they get the first product right as well. An SUV would be a good way to start.
