Re: Heritage Transport Museum, Gurgaon: The place to be

Great thread. I have been wanting to go to it for ages, unfortunately the last time i went there over a year ago, google maps took me to a large open field in a village and told me that was it. I asked many folks and none of them seemed to understand what I was talking about. Had to get back without visiting :( Hopefully Google now knows where it is, will go again and hopefully find it.

Excellent writeup and coverage. Thank you for sharing this. From the pictures it seems to be a very well designed and laid out museum.

A must go-to next time in the capital.

Re: Heritage Transport Museum, Gurgaon: The place to be

Rare Posters: Adorning the walls of the museum are some rare automobile advertisement posters of the bygone era. These posters were used by car dealers in pre independent India. In those days most of the car dealerships were concentrated mainly in the big cities of Calcutta, Delhi, Bombay and Madras. Apart from them Lucknow (The City of Nawabs) was also an important city in the United Provinces where car dealers were located owing to the presence of aristocracy in the area.

Thanks for sharing. The 800's pic blew me away. I feel, it is no less iconic than the mini. Maruti, give us another chance to drive the beauty. A battery version maybe. I would love to drive one, roll the Windows down, arms on the windows sill, and Chuck around in Bengaluru

Thanks alot. Definitely the first exhibit in the museum i.e Maruti-800 has something special about it. Being the car which changed the automotive scenario in the country it is nothing less than a legend in the making. With our cities getting choked with heavy traffic by the day and chaos ruling the roads, the importance of small cars is again to the fore. Although the modern incarnation of Maruti-800 is already in front of us in the form of Alto-800 but nonetheless reviving the beauty in its old style will have its own charm.
