This is why Mercedes-Benz will always be Mercedes-Benz. Audi, BMW, Lexus, Volvo etc. can try all they want in competing with Mercedes-Benz 'today', but they can't compete with Mercedes' 'yesterday'. The three-pointed star has a history & heritage that is second to no one in the car industry. And that's why, the three-pointed star will always be the most special.

First a big big thank you for the effort you have made to click a million photos for us to gape and gasp over. What a joy to see Mercedes' from the time that a Mercedes was a Mercedes - grand, handsome, dignified, reliable and an masterpiece of engineering. Oh what would I not give to own a Mercedes from the 1960s and use it for my daily driving.

Why keep wishing? Go out and buy one

Plenty of good examples are in the market if you are serious.

I would suggest a 107, one of my favourites.

I just might take you up on that offer in time! After all a retired man needs to tick off his bucket list even as the hard earned savings erode gradually. Cant sell 'em aircraft scale models. Let's see maybe I'll start with my wife's shoe collection.

Unless your wife is Imelda Marcos, I do not think the shoe collection will pay for a good example

As to taking me up on the offer, I have made no offer and do not have a 107

Good luck in your search as and when, but do not delay. Time has a habit of catching up very fast and before you know it, driving becomes an issue due to various reasons.

Just when I thought I had seen all the vintage cars in this country comes another drool worthy collection. Like the gold in Indian households, these have a tendency to keep coming out. Look at the Nurburg. No one will be complaining about 3rd row legroom in that one

There ought to be a transport museum in India along the lines of Rahmi Koc museum in Istanbul. That one comes with train coaches, locomotives, boats, tanks, airplanes, tractors and even the London double decker bus ! The whole place is so charming, newly wed couples go there for post wedding photography in their best dresses
