2. 39 Buick Sedan is a Roadmaster
3. 36 Buick Sedan is a Buick 8

Re: Pics: Vintage & Classic cars in India

Spotted this Dodge near Jehangir Hospital, Pune few days back.
It was damn shiny and very broad.
It caught the attention of everybody at the signal..!!

Bombay had one 130 too.
Fiat 130? Wow! Saloon, Wagon or coupe? That's super rare, anywhere in the world! What happened to her subsequently?

Yeah, the 132 had an interesting, chunky Alloy wheel design.

Well Delhi had 132s also, but not too many - one was with me only, like I said. 131s were probably a few more in number. In fact, there was a lovely light yellow-coloured one in the film Massom (Naseeruddin, Shabana, Jugal Hansraj the kid) that was shot largely in (the lovely wintery climes of) Delhi (and of course my school-town of Nainital). The 128P was even rarer than the 128, and I had one - very, very sadly smashed by a tree that fell on it, so had to be scrapped. Surprisingly, I knew of at least five Ritmos/Stradas - one fabulous tan-coloued one.

I don't remember exactly, but as per memory it was a saloon. Maybe metallic blue/silver, had a colour change sometime. Not seen on the road since long, and never tried to find its home. Maybe V16 remembers this car.

Cheers harit

Would be worth finding out. Although some members of the Fiat stable of that time were notorious rust-magnets, so I hope the tin weevils didn't get to this one, if she still survives...V16, a V6 beckons!

Re: Pics: Vintage & Classic cars in India

Spotted a mid 1930s Chrysler the other day. It was painted in metallic red, blue and green, colours similar to Bhogilal's airflow, and possibly dieselised.

This picture was posted earlier on the forum, and possibly was the same car.

Wow, what a beauty, seems American. Ticks all the right squares - Doctors Coupe, Side stepney, spoke wheels, big lights, cannot make out if exhaust comes out of the bonnet like a super charged car.

I hope some one can identify this beauty, Wasif any old pictures?

Cheers

Very nice catch, never see it before. Looks like a Chrysler product . Some kind of roadster not really a Doctors Coupe, that would have to be a hardtop.

Its a rumble seat roadster, not a Ford for sure.

Shyn, please see if any more pics are available or if your friend saw the regestration number on it

Bombay had one 130 too. Many of these cars came in as Italian and East European consular cars. Later the East Europeans switched to Japanese cars. The Ritmo, X1/9 were hardly seen.
I have just got a lot of 1977 London to Sydney rally pics, there are two Fiats. Research told me that one was an all womens crew which crashed badly in Australia, and the cars were running with experimental diesel engines.

Cheers harit

Yes Harit I remember the 130 Fiat and correctly it was a very light Blue Metallic colour and yes it was a coupe. I spotted this car in town, both times in Garages, one at Cuffe parade and one in Opera House area. I guess it was sold out of Bombay after which i never saw her again. I have not seen a 130 Coupe of there ever was in Bombay.

There was a 131 S Mirafiori which my brother's friend had bought from the US. A Metallic green colour, it was a bomb to drive. He also had a 132 similar to the Mahindra vehicle but in Dark Blue.

The Mahindra 132 i have seen languishing in the basement of its office building but kept very well, cleaned regularly. Never had the guts to find out if it was for sale. Im quite concerned now that it is sold.

Also had an Uncle in Delhi who had a powder blue 126P a small zipper of a car and a beautiful Maroon 124S S/W. I have always found these fiats to be cracker performers with fantastic gear ratios.
