More family cars awaiting information on their history

White car is an Austin 10 and the bottom car is a Vauxhall, could be a 10 or 12 !

Are these cars still in Hyderabad ?

Yes, both are in Hyderabad now. The Austin owned by Sulaiman Ali Khan has just stepped on the road after restoration. But i guess its a 12x4 Tourer not a 10 Tourer, isn't it so? The other one is Vauxhall 12 owned by Shujath Ali Khan.

Yes you are right its an Austin 12/4.The 10 had three vents on the bonnet compared with 4 on the 12 !

Just wondered if you know of any more Austin 12x4 Tourers in Hyderabad? In particular a cowled radiator Austin like this, its quite a rare one i feel.
And please do comment on its present look i.e., post restoration.

The Vauxhall, if I'm not mistaken, is a Nagpur (BYJ) regn. and has been a regular at the Deccan Heritage rallies here.

There were a few of these 10/4's in Hyderabad. One green/ black one comes to mind that an antique dealer called Asim owned on Road bo 6 Banjara hills, was not in the best condition though.

There used to be one with an architect called Adesh Chandra, it was their fathers car that htey started to restore but didn't complete.

A few more in Secunderabad and if I remember correct a few in various garages in Old City area. It was a very popular car in Hyderabad.

My own 1930 Austin Burnham 12/4 was originally a Hyderabad Car APX 2766. But it was brought to Chennai in the seventies or eighties

Yes Stanher,the red Vauxhall 12 is a BYJ and the Austin 12 Tourer & Morris 8 both APX.

AND your series 1 Morris 8 is from AP too...maybe not Hyderabad.

Your 12/4 is a much earlier and more classy example though !

The Morris 8 (pictured) was lying tucked away in an oil mill in Shah Ali Banda near Falaknuma Palace, Hyderabad.

The Nagpur Vauxhall 12 i have learned was once owned by the secretary of the ex-President of India, Dr.Rajendra Prasad.

Hi Vintage Khan, nice restoration of white Austin, we have one Austin 10 and Morris 8 E presently both under restoration now.

One of our Austin (black) seen after long time in chow mahalla palace show (APY 1520), we sold in 80's seen after nearly 30 years.

Can you write about your black Hindustan-48, history and present condition. Hope to hear more from your collection.
