The APX Chrysler is now in Mumbai and is cream coloured. She was restored in Bangalore.

The pillarless Impala is sporting AP regn. plates, so it must be the same car you are referring to. I understand that they bought this car about 20 years back

Cheers

Here is a pristine Dodge in Bangalore. Very few cars can boast of such an original body-line

This was originally the Late Col Ishaq's car, all his kids and many more got driven to their weddings in it. Used to be brown originally.

My uncle and the sons used to have a lot of fun with this car, I still remember them driving with one guy on the foot board holding a can of gas that went direct to the carb.

Lovely old memories of the original Hyderabad and Banjara Hills

Re: Pics: Vintage & Classic cars in India

This Willys CJ3B RHD was seen puttering around town. On closer observation- It seemed to be running on a Peugeot Diesel aka the XD3P.

Condition wasn't particularly notewothy- given the fact that this nearly 4 decade old vehicle (actually older), is in daily use. Hopefully she won't get more "bling" in the form of a cheap paint job, three spoke alloys et al later on. Ewww!

Ladies and gentlemen- Presenting- MTJ 6680.

Pardon the angle of the pic. My bicycle's tyre is very evident in the rightmost corner.

You see, I was in stealth mode.

Apart from the Peugeot XD3P (may be the 2112 cc 540 DP, as the 2498 cc XD3P was more upmarket and used in the Armada Grand and Bolero till the pollution norms affected its production) the rear part appears to have been borrowed from the CJ 500 D body. The tailgate with the door lever and the tailgate mounted stepney appeared first with the CJ500D, though I had a 1980 CJ 4A with the same body ( CJ 500D) and a Hurricane petrol engine. The petrol engines used to be made to order then.

Again here the fellow has mounted the amber indicators on the body and the red taillight on the bumper. The CJ 500D had indicators on the bumper and the taillight on the body. The black rear bumper with its right angle cuts at the extreme ends (left and right) are also of the later CJ 500 D era. The CJ 3B used to have bumpers with angular cuts at either ends.

Nice little Fiat 500C 'Topolino' (Mickey Mouse!) but with quite a few mods! Namely the Herald/Gazel rims/tyres.

Looks like this needs Pavan Kadam's touch!

Re: Pics: Vintage & Classic cars in India

Searching through a shipload of pics in my Laptop, I came across this rather rustic- and lovely image of a 1947/48 Fleetmaster.

This one might have been shared before- not clicked by me, nor is a Team-BHP watermark present. Due credits to the original poster.

Ladies and gentlemen- BMY 2072.

Note the number plate, and specifically, the Left-Hand-Drive part. Lovely, na?

That's exactly what I thought. The MM- Low Light. How lovely they looked- particularly with that cheesecutter (as it was then known! ) grille!

The year of registration could be 1953, in this case. In Bombay, the next series (i.e BML) started in 1954.

Re: Pics: Vintage & Classic cars in India

While going through older files in my laptop- Found some pics of another Morris Minor- BMU 9951. A little bit of searching around- and it seems- it's owned by BHPian Khanak. As of 2008/10- the car was not restored. The owner seems to have gone abroad- to Canada. Must say- I and he are in quite similar situations.

'Neways, ladies and gentlemen, presenting BMU 9951.

Strangely enough- she is floor-shift. The taillamps look like VW units (?)

The meter shall require an err...restoration.

A restoration advice thread was begun thus: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techni...ng-morris.html

More details can be followed here: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/vbpicg...?do=view&g=614

There used to be another Minor in Pune- BYH 1523- pics posted by Karl years ago. And another one used to be parked in Gokhale Nagar, Model Colony in white. Again- BYH plated, IIRC.

Hi,

all Morris minors to my knowledge were floor shift. Did any of them come with column shifts?

Regards,

Srinand.
