I would think yes.

This was an import through/or for UK if I am not mistaken

In UK the automakers have had to install seatbelts since 1965 - though it did not become a law for passengers to wear them, for another 16 or so years - in 1991.

Yes the car originally came with seat belts. These are quite basic and have to be manually adjusted and does not come with lap belts.

As rightly stated by the car did come through UK. Thanks for your info on the UK regulations.

To the best of my knowledge VW dealers in UK used to make it available as a dealer option in the standard model cars,
