the bugatti saddens me imensely. but i guess they did not know the value of the car and swapped engines. man imagine they had even removed the logo from the grill..
when i said four bugatti's one belonged to Mr JRD(wonder where that went though) my father use to have pictures of him driveing the car at marine drive. Mr Mallya has two bugatti's and another one you shall soon be seeing.

amatmo the car is in a private collection and does not leave the garage. it is driven in his private property or kept more like show.
oh..but good to know there is one

so mallya is importing a third one,why doesnt he bring them with his other car at the VCCCi rallies

Before we go deeper into the Maharajas cars, lets move those discussions here. Go through the thread, its pretty exhaustive.

Hello Everybody ,

Regarding Sunbeams - I have a Sunbeam 20 , a major restoration project , which I have been attending to in bits and pieces . The Gear box & Steering has been overhauled and chromeplated in 3 years !!!

I visited Mr. Heggade at Dharamsthala he has a similar car and was able to get a lot of information from his car. The people at STD register have been most helpful.

Request - PLEASE - all inputs regarding the renovation will be welcome.

I assume this is the vehicle you speak of? (though convertible) Quite pretty.

Just to let you know, while posting photos you need not post both the photo and the thumbnail, either one will do.

Vijay Mallya has the only other documented Bugatti in India, though my father swears that he has seen JRD driving a small racing Bugatti.
Karl, I have seen SIR JRD driving around in the Buggati! He Sure had one.
we used to live on altamount road just before Sir's Bungalow. and he would drive around it over the weekends, and this is early '60s, I was 10! then, but he had stopped and Requested me to go slow on my cycle down the slope! and then always remembered his soft tone!!

So one is JRD's, 2 are Mallyas, one is the DeSoto engined one, and which is the other one you speak of Speedy? Or are details classified? I know one Bugatti of Mallyas came from Pune, and is being restored. Which is the other one?

Was a 2 door Cabrio, and a powder bluish colour, was too young to mark coachwork and finer details, and yes after 1970 didnt see it.

Thats how my dad (a Telco man for many years) remembers it. But he goes to the extent to say it was a racing thoroughbred, with trademark Alloys and cycle fenders. Something like this.
