Man the blue car takes the cake, I almost choked to the same colour as the car with all those extra fittings! Imagine wooden number plates when the car is made of metal!

I do not have any info. on the owners and location. There were 2 gents and a teenage guy in it though.

But I do remember you telling me there was a Vauxhall with someone in Mar'pally (although I thought you said it was a Velox?) so might as well be this one? 'liked the sound of it when it drove off....how I wish I got to hear more such sounds everyday!

Deccan Heritage Automobile Association R-Day show 2011

We had the Deccan Heritage show at our usual venue on 26th Jan.

I happened to be a bit late in turning up this time and also couldnt manage as many photos as I normally do, mainly because of the excessive crowd this time.

But still managed to capture most of them...! A few interesting 'new' cars turned up this time- including yours truly's CAN!!

A couple of cars since the last couple of rallies have become regulars now, which is good.
A few former regulars werent seen this time though.

Incidentally, I've seen a curious increase in the number of Beetles in this show!

OK let the pics. do (mostly) the rest of the talking...

The cars; feels really intriguing to find my humble little Herald rubbing shoulders with the mighty Yank tanks!

A rare pre-war Opel Kadett. With an equally rare Hyd. state (HYX) regn.! A couple of non-original parts, like the Standard 10 rear winscreen and Pennant meters! but nevertheless well-kept. 'found the 'Sekurit' glasses (same brand used on old fiats) interesting.

Lovely pics Shyam - CAN is truly shining, in her maiden public appearance
APX 190- isn't it and Austin Seven- the logo on the radiator says Austin 5.
ATU 1000 is a Simca, right ? Nice looking car !

Thanks ravi!

I'm not sure if the logo on APX/HDX 190 is right.

Yup ATU 1000 is a Simca 1305; you'll remember that it was also featured in another thread sometime earlier.

I just learned that pre war Opel Kadett's are rare if they are right hand drive. Not sure if that was only convertibles, or also sedans.

If you would like to ask the owner, maybe I can help with wheelscaps.

Sekurit was a European, probably German automotive glass manufacturer. I have seen a 1936 Mercedes 170V with Sekurit glass. Opel, Mercedes all had these. Later they were taken over by St. Gobain Glass.

HYX registration is not rare, it is invalid. Maybe he has a newer number already. All Hyderabad cars were re-registered with AP series, starting with APX.

Cheers harit

Thanks harit. I will try and get in touch with him through the club.

Also interesting info. on the RHD Kadetts
Yes, I am aware that all HYX regns. were converted to APX post AP formation in 1956.

What I meant was it is rare to see a vehicle with the HYX regn. on...sorry I couldnt put it clearly, was quite sleepy when I posted last night!

PS: Why the double signature??

And now, for the 2-wheelers- the bikes.

Quite a number of the previous regulars were absent this time.

Re: Vintage Rallies & Shows in India

Now concluding with the scooter pics.

(note: sorry about the back-to-back post but wanted to split the pics. in 2 posts, they being too many in number)

Good to see an increase in the number of Vespas but the Lambrettas are sure diminishing; my favourite one didnt turn up this time!

Hello Stanher,

In case you didn't already know, "Sekurit" Duroglass was used on most Mercedes Benz's as well.

Re: Vintage Rallies & Shows in India

Thanks for sharing the great pictures. Your Herald is looking particularly attractive.

FYI Sekurit supplied to many mainstream manufacturers, including VW (my Bug still retains all the original stamped glasses). Interestingly I recently saw a 1930s Bentley (French coachbuilt) with the front windscreen marked 'SECURITE'.
