Just returned from brunch at lower parel, some nice cars displayed including aPackard coupe, couple of Rollers, an Alpha , a pontoon and an Armstrong siddley limousine.. The same Armstrong was for sale a while back, offered to me at Rs X, within a week bought by a broker and offered at 2X. Wonder who finally bought it!

No one having responded to my earlier post , I wonder, no one taking cars to Poona for the show next Sunday???.

Though i would i have loved to go, unfortunately have to be outstation for business. I belive kasli is planing to attend. Just missed meeting you at the display at world one. Met some of the others. Regards

Missed everyone for the display and some images of the event. It was held by Autocar and inside a wonderful exhibition of some of the best images of shots taken by the world team .

For poona very doubtful but the temptation of driving might allow me to just go for the day. If I do go the will take pics for sure

What a lovely thread this is!!

Found some nice old photographs - of a VCCCI rally I'd been to, somewhere in 1998 or 1999. This was held near Vidhan Bhavan, at Nariman point.

The highlight of this rally (for me at least), was the first and only sighting I had, of the legendary Citroen 'Deese' DS - the Goddess herself, In Mumbai.
The car was beautifully maintained, and it was a pleasure to behold how the hydro-pneumatic suspension worked. The Goddess stood almost touching the ground when stationary, and when started - gently lifted herself and glided away... I will never forget this!

This car I believe belonged to a die-hard Citroen fanatic from Andheri, whose compound was a magical wonderland of all things Citroen.
I wonder if it still exists??

The other Citroen I've almost never seen since, is Cyrus Gandhy's remarkable Traction Avant.

The girl whom you see alongside the DS - I was dating her back then. Suitably impressed by my temerity to drag her to a vintage rally on a Sunday morning - she finally agreed to marry me!!

The pics are from the year 2000 - the Rally of the Raj from Bombay to Delhi (or was it vice versa?). We can see the foreign participants - in this case 2 Bentleys. Nice to see familiar local participants too. Do you have more pics from the event? Would love to see.

Yup, she still survives, though barely, the car having rotted considerably. I saw her last in 2008, pictured below, but I believe the car has gone further down since then. What a shame.

It was only driven for the Rally by someone else.
