We had the annual VCCCI event on Sunday at the Pune Central mall at Bund Garden. The venue naturally was too cramped with many cars being parked in the basment outside of public view. I was driving a 1962 Fiat 1100 of a friend, who was driving his 51 Morris Minor convertible. We drove both cars down to Pune from Bombay on Saturday morning.

With the said space constraints, here are a few pictures I could squeeze in. Im sticking mainly to the cars that entered for the first time or after a long gap, most of the others have been covered before.

A couple of superb 49 Buicks.

A very original 1955 Fiat 1100. The car used to be black, and recently got some much needed bodywork done.

A single owner 47 Ford. I remember the car lying badly neglected for years, am glad the family got the car restored. Quite a nice job too.

Special mention must be made of Ms Prabha Nene. This wonderful lady (soon to touch 80!) has been maintaining her 1934 Austin all by herself since 1964! Commendable indeed. She has taken part in rallies all over India since the 60s, (2 and 4 wheeler), and has driven the Austin to rallies as far as Hyderabad. The car recently came out of a 2 year old slumber, and is a rolling restoration. Ms Nene is also part of our Fiat club with her 1985 Padmini, which is also frequently used for long distance trips, like the Konkan belt and Hyderabad last year.

Imposing Indian Chief. This bike used to belong to my mechanic, who sold it to Hyderabad last year. It made a few appearences there, and the owner decided to ride it down to Pune for this event. No mean feat! Also from Hyderabad was this Moto Guzzi.

One of my mother's grand-uncles in Madras, who was a prominent criminal lawyer, had a 50s Lincoln (I'm guessing it was a similar model) bought new, although I believe it was an RHD. The no. I'm told was MSY 3331.

They had it until the mid 60s when it suffered an accident damaging its front end (I'm told it had a tyre burst or something while running and hit some boundary wall of a bridge), after which they had most likely sold the car on (they said it ended up sitting abandoned near the Alwarpet petrol pump for quite some time) and bought an Ambassador(!)

I wonder what happened to that car finally...no pics. of it I'm afraid, but will try asking his daughter, my mom's aunt when I get to meet her in Madras next.

Anyways, lovely pcis. Karl! 'wish we had shows over here as frequently!

Sorry my mistake- just chatting with my uncle (mom's brother) right now & he says it was MSP 3331. He said it seemed to be a Cosmopolitan limousine (going by google images), which may be what this car also is?
'told him to ask their aunt for any pics., he said he'll try tomorrow. Let's see!

Your info is not correct.MSP 3331,a ford lincoln was owned by late Mr.Anantharamakrishnan of Amalgamations- a large Automotive Group. All their cars end with 331.

Was his car bought brand new? Anyways, this is what my uncle told me the no. was.
But he also said there were only 2 known lincolns in Madras at that time, one of them being our relative's. This one you speak of may have been the other one so also possible he got the numbers mixed up a bit?
