I really doubt he got documents to go with that. He's going to have a heck of a time registering it.

what about the cars which are junked and later restored and with a new engine, will those cars be registered legally??? (new engine number doesnt match with the existing engine number in the RC)

If it is a previously regd car, new engine number can be endorsed in the RC though a little bit of under the table is certainly required to complete the formalities.

Aww man.....that's a pity!! Incidentally my Aunt (mami) told me she had once tried for a job @ their main dealer, the Union Motor co. (29 Mount Rd. Madras) back in the late 60s or so....but declined the offer as they'd offered her too low a pay....!

Gogi, hardest part for him was that the winning bid was 13.03L & his bid was 13L whereas the third highest bid was just 8.5L!! Must have been a really frustating couple of days I can tell you that!

The remnants of the factory were auctioned off, the land is sold too. Major stocks of the 2000 spares were picked up by the Rimmers brothers in the UK, catering to the Rover SD1.

One thing I know for sure is that there are plenty of snakes there to reckon with.

As far as a decade back there were attempts to clean the place and reorganise stuff.

The stuff where confounded with the number of reptiles, from the neighborhood who had made the factory their home.

actually, later, in hindsight i was glad i didnt win it, because there was a lot wrong with it and in those days parts etc were not as easy to locate and import.it would have been a major headache to get it running.
besides, i would have looked silly driving that monster around town( if it ever ran right), it is a car to be driven in and not drive. even today, i wouldnt mind it if my dad would be willing to be driven around in it.
is it running now?
and if i had bought the 600, then i may not have bought the lagonda later... i prefer the Lagonda

I agree! The Lagonda is something else altogether.

Is the Lagonda stored away? How about a small photo shoot this weekend alongwith the Karmann?

hey,

there is a green herald parked at lamington road near the theatre there.
ive seen it there for the last 4 years just rotting
i noticed it beacuse my dad used to have one for years and got tired of maintaining it and he never used it and never let me drive it either(because back then, i was underage)
incidentally, there happen to be two garages who (from what ive seen) only restore classic / vintage cars.
will go and ask if its for sale

I'm sure somebody there would be interested.....I am too (for parts only, that too if its complete!) but then Bombay is way too far for me to spend on getting a parts donor! Maybe (fortunately?) it can go to somebody else there as a restoration...?
